Guitarists looking to expand their cabinet IRs for the TH-U SuperCabinet modeling software will be impressed with Overloud The Amp Factory TAF JACK, an IR library that extensively captures the full-sounding guitar tone of a Fuchs 1x12 with Eminence Private Jack speakers.

The TAF JACK provides the sound of the '60s and '70s, offering a softer low-mid that produces a smooth midrange. The Private Jack is great for anything organic like modulation and delays as the lack of low end makes these cut through a mix. This library features IRs systematically captured with 14 mics for over 100 total impulse responses. The mics recorded IRs in 8 positions each with two distances using a Neve 1073/VR preamps.

SuperCabinet IR processor makes it easy to blend and create custom cabinet tones and export IRs in WAV format for use in external IR loaders and modelers. Created by Andy from TheAmpFactory in his Orangetreestudios HQ, who captured a Fuchs 1x12 with Eminence Private Jack speaker that has less low-mid volume, producing a smoother midrange, great for anything organic like modulation and delays, as the lack of low end makes these cut through the mix a lot easier.

  • Graphically browse the IRs in the library
  • Blend them together
  • Craft new cabinet tones with the unique Multiband mode
  • Use the IR in the software
  • Export the IRs in WAV-file format, compatible with software IR loaders and all the major hardware modelers

The microphones used during the capture sessions for this IR library are:

  • AKG C414
  • Audix i5
  • Beyerdynamic M160
  • DPA 4011
  • Electrovoice RE20
  • Neumann U47
  • NeumannU87
  • Peluso R14
  • Royer 121
  • Sennheiser MD421
  • ShinyBox 46MXL
  • Shure 545 SD
  • Shure SM7B
  • Shure SM57
  • Sony C800G

Every microphone has been moved to 4 different horizontal positions (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone, and Cone Edge), two distances each, for a total of 8 IRs each. All the measurements have been created with the Neve 1073/VR preamp. All IRs in the library are phase aligned, so they can be blended without phase cancellation.

Q: 1. Could this be used as a basic controller to operate a series of flashes in manual mode for a Fuji X-e2? Not interested in TTL capabilities, but the ability to use it as a basic controller/trigger.

A: No, that is designed to be used for Canon cameras and flashes that have the IR TTL system.

Q: 2. Does this work with the Nikon SB 28 DX?Do I have to attach anything to the Nikon Flash or does it receive signals from the remote automatically by IR out of the box?Do I understand it correctly that the unit will control my flash remotely including power control, TTL and also in Manual mode?

A: Since the Nikon SB-28DX is not compatible with the Nikon CLS system nor does it use i-TTL communication, it would not be compatible with this product.
