The Sigma 95mm WR UV Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

A UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on a lens at all times. This filter helps to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provides additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

This Sigma WR UV Filter is coated to repel water drops and resist smudging from fingerprints. It is also treated to exhibit antistatic properties to prevent microscopic dust from clinging to the front surface. This helps to ensure sharp images.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is wr stand for?

A: Water resistant

Q: 2. How effective is the hydrophobic treatment? Presumably a titanium oxide coating?

A: Hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings on glass elements and filters such as the Sigma 95mm WR Ceramic Protector Filter (B&H# SICGC95) are typically fluorine-based rather than titanium-based, as the later would block much visible light. It causes most water to bead and roll off if there is any incline to the angle at which the filter is held. When dealing with water droplets and splashes, I have found this type of coating sheds most water without my needing to address it at all. When a water droplet does not roll off right away, I just blow on it to shed it without having to take a break to wipe the lens or filter. I do not need to touch the element at all and I'm immediately back to shooting.

Q: 3. How thick is the glass on these filters? (Not concerned about the total height of the assembly)

A: Same as other filters.

Q: 4. I’m wondering if the color of this filter matches with the color of Fuji X100V?

A: Yes, it will match very well--there is very little color shift introduced by a UV filter.

Q: 5. Country of origin?

A: As per our records, this lens is currently made in Japan. Please note that this is subject to change at any time.

Q: 6. Which metal is used for the new Sigma filters?

A: The filter is very new and some information is not out yet. As of now it seems the frame is brass like the other models.

Q: 7. Is the filter frame aluminum or brass?

A: The ring on this filter is aluminum.

Q: 8. Is this filter in 2 pieces with a threaded magnetic adapter and a separate filter, or is it a single filter?

A: The Kase 77mm Skyeye Magnetic Multicoated UV Filter is a single piece. The filter screws onto any 77mm front filter thread and allows up to four additional magnetic filters to be stacked on front. This protective filter can remain attached to a lens as a constant layer of protection, but that still allows additional magnetic filters to be attached and removed much more quickly than traditional threaded filters.

Q: 9. Does lens also have anti-reflective coatings and how many?

A: Unfortunately no, it is not multicoated. This version is the coated version by Sigma: https://bhpho.to/2YVgoZm

Q: 10. Where is this lens manufactured?

A: This lens is manufactured in Japan.

This Sigma ceramic lens protector is superb. I've using this product a lot this past week, and no dust has shown up, it's clear as it could be. I am using the 77mm filter on my Nikon 80-400mm AF-S G Ed VR and my 24-70mm lenses. I thinking about getting a second one. Go for it, you won't be disappointed
