Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I do two SDI outputs and two SDI inputs simultaneously?

A: Yes, you will be able to set up the DeckLink 8K Pro G2 Capture Card to accept two (2) SDI outputs and two (2) SDI inputs.

Q: 2. Can the Decklink 8k Pro Cinema Capture and playback Card capture 4 independent 12G/6G SDI signals simultaneously? Also, can 2 or more of this model card be used to expand the amount of input/outs in a single computer system?

A: No. The Decklink 8K card is intended for only one signal in and out. This signal may require 1, 2, or 4 connections but it remains only one signal. You can add additional cards for more I/O but keep in mind the computer bus must support the intended bandwidth of those signals.

Q: 3. The Blackmagic rep said this card was not compatible with Macintosh at the time of launch in a YouTube video posted by Cinema 5D. I assume this is no longer true since Final Cut Pro is on the compatibility list, but can someone confirm this card will work in a Sonnet Technology external PCIe expansion chasis connected to a 2020 iMac via Thunderbolt 3?

A: The DeckLink 8K Pro card has always been supported on Windows, MacOS, and Linux since it was first launched. The Blackmagic Rep. on that video was just explaining that system they were using to demo the card at that show was a Windows machine, although the drivers and the card also worked on Mac OS systems there was no Mac system at the time capable of fully supporting the card's requirement of a PCIe 8 lane generation 3 slot. The card did work on Mac towers at the time as well as external PCIe chassis in HD and probably 4K too, but not in 8K or with multiple high resolution/frame rate streams simultaneously due to the limited PCIe slot and Thunderbolt connection bandwidth. The card should work with that chassis and iMac but depending on the PCIe slot specs and Thunderbolt bandwidth, your mileage may vary with high formats or multiple streams.

Q: 4. Will this work with a MacBook Air 2017?

A: No.

Q: 5. If there are no breakout cables, what will I need in order to connect my Rokit Speakers to the card so that I can monitor audio out of it?

A: you can use SDI TO HDMI converter and embed audio in the HDMI signal or use the audio out from the converter.

Q: 6. Will this card support any daughter boards such as the 12G optical and hdmi board for the DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G?

A: At the moment it does not. We are unable to speculate on what may happen in the future.
