A: I bought it to use with my Canon tilt-shift lenses (17mm & 24mm) on a Canon 5D Mark IV. It supported that set-up just fine. However, I did end up returning the Benro and bit the bullet for an Arca Swiss D4 geared head. I did not care for the controls of the Benro. I also had to buy a spacer to lift it up from the platform of my Gitzo tripod because of the controls sometimes contacting the tripod platform. I have no experience with any other geared head (and I haven't received the Arca Swiss D4 yet; supposed to arrive today); therefore, I can't compare the Benro to, for example, the Manfrotto geared heads.Initially upon receiving the Benro, I liked it, but soon found that the pointy knob controls for free movement of the head were not comfortable for me to use. It is not a bad head for the price, that's for sure.

A: While B&H does not carry the Cosmo Mini 500 Copy Stand you list above, it appears from the pictures on the manufacturer's website the screw on the copy stand is a 1/4"-20 male threaded screw. The Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head has a 3/8"-16 female tripod socket on the base of the head, so you would need an adapter such as the Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing, B&H # OB1039, to connect the Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head to the Cosmo Mini 500 Copy Stand.

Q: 4. I am considering this head for use with a Chamonix 4x5 camera. From the available images, it appears that the top knob is higher than the base plate, and might come into contact with the base of the camera. Is this the case or am I just looking at the images incorrectly?

A: The top knob gets very close to the camera plane. In a regular DSLR or mirrorless the camera ends by the plate and there is enough space between the plate and the knob where the camera will not touch the knob. If you are using a very large camera that extends many inches back from the tripod screw, the top knob would get in the way. At a minimum it would be very difficult for you to access the top knob with the large camera on the head,.
