A: In the case of the Sigma Lens Hood for the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens, it is an older lens and after doing a bit of research it does not seem like it is possible to get just the lens hood any longer.

The picture quality is outstanding. I will be using this for mostly bird/wildlife photography. The lens is a bit on the heavy side so use of a monopod or tripod is a benefit. You can hand hold it but be prepared for a workout! I love that you are able to lock the zoom at the different focal lengths.

Was very impressed with my first results, extremely sharp, easy to use on my Canon 5D Mark lll, very quick focus, only drawback is it’s weight. Will probably use a monopod or tripod most of the time. Hand held shots will have to be done in bright light at fast shutter speeds, although the os system works very well.

This a great lens that produces crisp, sharp photos. I've used it over the past several weeks and have gotten some great photos. It is well made and built like a tank. It can be handheld - but I use a tripod when the conditions allow. The autofocus works well on moving subjects and the color reproduction is excellent. This lens diffidently improved my wildlife photography.

I haven’t really had a chance to get to know this lens but it seems to be a very solid lens. It’s pretty heavy but you can hand shot with out a tripod! I would recommend it if you are looking for a long range lens.

Very sharp imaging even at 600mm, great color and fine details, I could not believe it.

I purchased this lens to replace its contemporary version by Sigma, since after three years I was having some difficulty in fine focusing with the latter. This new lens, albeit large and extremely heavy, has remarkably sharp focusing. I couldn’t be any happier. It is well worth the cost for anyone who wants to achieve close up photography, and it performs well with a Sigma 1.4x teleconverter attached to it. It did require my purchasing an Arca compatible plate to attach to its base, but the cost was nominal

With a limited budget, I wanted to up my gear.

While happy with a Sigma Contemporary 150-600, the differences to the Sport are subtle, but totally noticeable.

1) Contrast. The color contrast on the Sport is more lush that what I was getting on the Contemporary.

2) Micro-Detail. As a bird / nature photographer, I am getting better micro-detail from the Sports. It's the little details that pop.

3) Sharpness. Minimal, but also better.

4) Weather Sealing. Not that I'm out jumping around in puddles. I worry far less when my rig gets some drizzle, or if I'm shooting shore birds at the beach with the Contemporary acting as a dust pump.

The downside to the Sport.

1) It's 2 + pounds heavier. If you shoot free-hand, be ready to put on some muscle.

Break even points from the Sports and the Contemporary -

1) AF speed is about the same. I don't notice a faster acquisition on the Sports.

2) Light still needs to be the same. If it's grey out, the net shooting results will be the same for both lenses.

In the end. I'm VERY happy with my purchase of the Sports. It's a keeper for my nature photography.

Have not used it on a tripod yet and have some great shots. Some down to a 30th of a second, but not every one will be sharp. It's so easy on my manual setting I can take the same shot and use my right hand to go between settings without having to quit shooting like my old manual lens. It's incredible how close you can get to a subject and still be able to focus. The sharpness is unbelievable. Even through a closed window.

After reading tons of reviews I opted for the Sport version of this
lens. If you dig a little, the reviews state that this lens is heavier than the Contemporary version because it is built way more rugged. It also focuses faster on moving subjects. I bought this lens for my Canon 5D MK4 for when I am photographing birds and other wild
animals that I don't really want to get close to. I haven't tried
it on a camera with an APS-C sensor but it works very well with the
full sized sensor on my 5D. If you have tried selling stock photos
you know how picky they are. Shutterstock has been accepting most of my photos using this body / lens combination. That says it all about the quality of images you can get with this lens and a pro body. This lens is heavy and rugged. This camera / lens combination weighs almost ten pounds so you need a very solid tripod. The lens hood has an unusual mount, but is solid and well designed. At about a sixth the price of a Canon 600mm "L" series lens, it is well worth the
money.
