The Buffalo Technology 8TB Replacement Hard Drive comes preinstalled in a custom housing that makes it compatible with your TeraStation 7120R storage solution. The housing enables quick replacement or upgrade of an existing drive within the storage system. In addition, the enterprise-class drive is designed to operate in always-on environments and comes equipped with a SATA interface, which offers transfer rates of up to 6 Gb/s.

A: If you are asking if the software can be used with other hard drives, I do not believe that you can. It is installed on this hard drive only.

Q: 3. Will this drive be portable? Do I need to dock it the wall socket all the time?

A: Unfortunately, you need to use power supply every time you use it. I don't think there is any external hard drive greater than 3TB which uses USB power supply only.I hope this answer your question.

Q: 4. Is this a Red drive inside?

A: I have 4 of these and none of them have a red drive inside. They are all blue.

Q: 5. What type of USB3 port does this have, full size or micro? I wouldn't have to ask if even one of the photos showed the back of the drive, but none did.

A: This item contains a ( Micro-B) port on the back of the item.

Q: 6. Can the drive be mirrored?

A: Yes, the drive can be mirrored; the drive ships pre-formatted and will need to be formatted and partitioned before use if using different operating system.

Q: 7. My B&H late-2013 15 MacBook Pro Retina only has two USB 2 (?) ports (plus two Thunderbolt and one HDMI). Can I still use this drive? Thank you for your help.

Have it only for a couple of weeks. Bought this as a backup drive. Setup was easy with Acronis True Image. Sits on my desk next to a Seagate external drive. Does what it's supposed to do. So far, so good. 5

fantastic produce. simple and easy to setup. runs cool and fast. B&H's prices were better than ... or .... reliability is probably most important and it seems there is very little to complain about with this drive. second is speed, this drive reads and writes much faster than my seagate (which is still working great after 2 years) this is my main drive now with the others as backup 5

we needed a back up drive big enough to hold both of our laptops (mac) and the tons of photos we constantly take, plus videos and music files. This worked perfectly. Automated with the time-machine software, it backs up our computers every day if not more often. The best price on the market too. Highly recommend it for an AT HOME drive. Not portable since you do need a power outlet for it to plug into. 5

This is the second 1.5 TB WD Elements drive that I own. They both work without a flaw. No issues whatsoever. I use them to tandemly backup four household pcs. 5

I use this drive to backup photos. It has been reliable and fast enough for my needs. It would be nice to have a On/Off switch. As is, I can unplug the USB cable to power down. 5
