Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. i get a lot of popping using the wl185 with the ulxd1. what else can i try?

A: It's depends on what you mean by popping. If its electronic noise or acoustic plosives. If it sounds electronic then get a new mic. If it's vocal plosives then move the mic so it's not so close to the persons mouth.

Q: 2. Does ulxd1 transmitter h50 work with ulxd4 h51 receiver?

A: Yes, the Shure ULXD1 Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter for the H50 frequency band (534 to 598 MHz) will work with the Shure QLXD4 Digital Wireless Receiver for the H51 frequency band (534 to 598 MHz) since the H50 and H51 frequency bands overlap and the Shure ULX-D and QLX-D components are compatible for use together.

Q: 3. This is one mic per receiver right? The receiver can't have 2 mics simultaneously, correct?

A: The receiver in this QLXD system can only receive 1 transmitter at a time. For a dual channel receiver system of similar quality, you'd want this ULXD2D receiver, BH #SHULXD4DH50 with two separately purchased transmitters BH #SHLXD2B58H50.

Q: 4. Does the Shure ULXD1 Transmitter come with a mic or is that sold separately?

A: Microphones are not included but are available as optional purchases.

Q: 5. Does this have a mute button?. If not how do you mute it ?

A: This QLXD SM58 does not have a mute button. It would need to be muted by the sound person at the board.

Q: 6. Does this have an on/off switch?. If not, how do you switch it off ?

A: Yes.

Q: 7. So if Zaxcom has a patent on this how are companies like Rode or DJI allowed to put to market a a wireless system (granted prosumer level) but can record internally as well as send signal back to camera at the same time?

A: Thanks for response. Yes I am aware of that but it still does not answer how Rode and DJi who sell in US. How are they able to sidestep the us patent

Q: 8. If this A20 mini cannot record 32 bit float as backup AND transmit audio signal to RX on camera at the same time in USA, what alternative products are out there that can do both at the same time?

A: Unfortunately no, there is not currently a comparable option that is capable of recording in 32-bit and transmit over UHF frequencies at the same time. As of January 2023, this is still proprietary technology.

Q: 9. Will this transmitter work with the ULXP4 receiver?

A: No it is not. The Shure ULXD1 is a digital wireless bodypack transmitter compatible with ULX-D and QLX-D receivers only.

Q: 10. My receiver is a J50 unit. With the J50A be the correct transmitter?

A: Yes, you can use the QLXD2/B87A-J50A transmitter with your QLX-D-J50 or ULX-D-J50 receiver. The FCC recently changed regulations for the frequency band above 616 MHz. This range is no longer available for use by wireless microphones and is now designated for use with broadband. Due to these changes, Shure has discontinued the J50 band (572 to 636 MHz) and replaced it with the J50A band (572 to 608 + 614 to 616 MHz), which covers much of the same bandwidth as J50. Older QLX-D and ULX-D components that operate on the J50 band can be used with newer components operating on the J50A band.
