A: Yes, you can use the Sennheiser SKP 100 G4 transmitter with a Rode NTG4+ shotgun mic as long as you are using battery power for the mic. The SKP 100 does not supply phantom power.

Q: 2. Would this mic work with my Sony adapter for my A7s? It has an xlr in??

A: The NTG4+ will work with an XLR adapter that is able to provide 48 volts phantom power to the mic.

Q: 3. How far from the subject this mic can record with quality? Is it good for advertising production?

A: Lots of variables here, but generally you should be within a couple of feet of the sound source - less if it is a noisy environment. This is more an aspect of proper location sound technique in general, rather than the quality of this particular mic. This mic is capable of very good quality sound, but even the most expensive mic will sound terrible if it is 10 ft from the subject.

A: The NTG4+ does not operate on AA battery power. It features an internal rechargeable battery for power or can utilize phantom power.

A: The NTG4 (no +) is only phantom powered. In theory the mic could be powered via a AA battery operated source like a Tascam or Zoom recorder for instance but the mic does NOT take batteries whatsoever. I own an NTG4+ and it is my favorite mic. It is super versatile and the rechargeable battery inside lasts forever.

A: The BOYA BY-BM6060 does not include a cable. The mic has an XLR output and can be powered by a single AA battery or phantom power. If you are connecting the mic directly to the mic input on a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or a camera or recorder with a 3.5mm mic input, then you will need to use a battery to power the mic and you can use an XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male cable. To connect the BY-BM6060 to a camera or recorder with an XLR mic input, use an XLR female to XLR male cable. If the device can supply phantom power, then a battery is not required to power the mic. However, if the device cannot supply phantom power or if you do not want to use power from the device, then use a battery is required. The cable can be as short or as long as needed.

Q: 7. Does this microphone have to be mounted on a camera? We are using a teleprompter so we need a mic that can stand alone and not have to be mounted to our camera.

A: We use this as a boom mic which is on a boompole (fish pole) connected to a C-stand that hangs over the talent (speaker). The C stand is weighed down by two 30LB sand bags. You will also need a Matthelini clamp to attach the boom to the C-stand.

It may also be compatible for connection to the 3.5mm TRS mic input on your DSLR or mirrorless camera. If you are only going to use the NTG4+ mic with your camera, you can connect the mic directly to the camera's 3.5mm mic input. Power the mic with its internal battery and use a cable with XLR female and 3.5mm TRS male connectors like the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KOXRSM015B), which is a good length for mounting on the camera, or use a longer length if you want to use the mic off-camera, on a boompole or stand.
