The Countryman E6s Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation. The compact size and placement just in front of the ear make this microphone particularly well-suited for intimate theater and broadcast applications, or any use where low mic visibility is a key factor.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern provides a generous and forgiving pickup area around the perimeter of the capsule, while the stainless steel construction stands up to daily use, makeup, and sweat. The mic also comes with 3 different interchangeable caps that let you choose between a flat, bright, or very bright frequency response.

This version of the E6s is cocoa and comes with a 1mm diameter cable. It terminates to a Switchcraft 851 connector for use with Lectrosonics wireless transmitters.

Q: 1. Does this Microphone works with a DSC-HX400?

A: I am not familiar with the DSC-HX400.

Q: 2. Will this work with A7SIII??

A: This stereo mic can be connected to the Sony A7siii camera via the Sony Multi-Interface Shoe.

Q: 3. How can this microphone claim so much greater directionality (down 14 dB at 60 degrees off-axis) than other shotgun microphones of similar physical length. Is it a typo?

A: The physical length alone does not determine directinality. It is the overal design and engineering that achieves this specification. Q: 4. Can it be plugged in zoom H1?

A: Yes you will need a xlr cable to do that.

Q: 5. When mounted on the SONY RX10 via the shoe this microphone disables the manual audio levels. Am I therefore correct in assuming that the RX10 is now recording with auto levels? But when I plug-in the included connecting cable in addition manual levels are once again usable. So when mounted to the shoe, with connecting cable plugged-in is the only way to use manual audio levels with the RX10?SONY offer no explanation as to what's actually happening here!

A: The way the mic works is correct and the only controls if using via the shoe are just what are on the mic itself. To get the other controls from the camera it needs to be attached via the mic jack.

Q: 6. What is the country of origin for this product?

A: Australia

Q: 7. Does this have built in isolation to eliminate handling noise?

A: Yes it does. All interview microphones have some type of shock mount in the handle to reduce handling noise when out in the field. Some are better than others.

Q: 8. Can this microphone be used with a AA battery for source of power also?

A: The NTG-1 does not feature battery power capability, however the NTG-2 is the same mic with the addition of the AA battery compartment.

Q: 9. How far from the subject this mic can record with quality? Is it good for advertising production?

A: Lots of variables here, but generally you should be within a couple of feet of the sound source - less if it is a noisy environment. This is more an aspect of proper location sound technique in general, rather than the quality of this particular mic. This mic is capable of very good quality sound, but even the most expensive mic will sound terrible if it is 10 ft from the subject.

Q: 10. What is the difference between NTG 1 and NTG 2

A: I have both. The NTG2 uses a AA battery. Ive seen specs that claim there is a tiny bit of difference in performance but it depends on your size restrictions and phantom power requirements. The NTG1 is great on most of my cams and in podcasts where the space might be an issue and upplying power to it isnt a problem. Recently I started.using a Tascam 70D the power drain is so bad on it I will often switch to the NTG2 to save battery on the mixer/recorder.
