Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this fit the WG-6 camera? It is listed as an accessory for the WG-6 but the description doesn't mention the WG-6.

A: Yes, the Pentax O-CC135 Camera Case for WG-3, WG-3 GPS, WG-4, WG-4 GPS Cameras is large enough for the Olympus WG-6. It will be a little squeeze.

Q: 2. Does this lens work on the FTZ adapter for Nikon Z cameras?

A: The IRIX 11mm f/4 Firefly Lens for Nikon F is a manual focus and exposure lens that is compatible with Nikon Z cameras with the FTZ adapter.

Q: 3. One of the reviews mentions they didn't like the manual aperture but the picture shows an A setting on the aperture ring which I assume means auto. Thus I would expect that the aperture could be controlled with the control dial either directly or adjusting the shutter speed. Can someone provide the answer?

A: When the lens aperture is set to 'A' the aperture is controlled by the camera and auto aperture control modes, or through the camera controls in manual aperture control modes. This is the same on all Pentax 645 lenses with the 'A' in the lens name, and you can verify by setting if the aperture ring has an 'A' setting. The aperture ring merely gives you the option to go full legacy manual mode, which is sometimes handy, but for the most part I leave mine on 'A' and even if I take a picture in manual exposure, I set the aperture with the camera wheel.

Q: 4. Since it has an aperture ring, will it work on older film camera's like the K1000 & similiar cameras?

A: This lens should work with any Pentax K Mount camera.

Q: 5. Was this designed for and will it work on a Pentax LX?

A: Yes, the Pentax HD Pentax-FA 35mm f/2 Lens would be compatible for use on the Pentax LX Camera. The LX uses the K mount, which is the Pentax proprietary bayonet lens mount.

Q: 6. Why does this lens have a M/A focus switch when the K-1 and K-1 II have already have that feature?Does this mean this lens is actually made by another manufacturer?

A: Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA* 85mm f/1.4 ED SDM AW Lens is made by Pentax in their Vietnam's manufacture. Many Pentax Proffessional full frame DSLR lenses has their own M/A switch to turned ON/OFF the lens build in focus motor.

Q: 7. Is this lens made by Tamron (like the great 15-30mm)? Thanks

A: The Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA* 85mm f/1.4 ED SDM AW Lens is made by Pentax.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with Pentax K3 iii Monochrome?

A: Yes, the Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA* 85mm f/1.4 ED SDM AW Lens is compatible with the Pentax K3III Monochrome Camera.

Q: 9. Is this a face lift of the 35mm f/2.0 SMCP-FA AL Lens (B&H #PE352ALFA) or an entirely new optical formulation?

A: It has HD coatings and improved optics.

Q: 10. Can you tell me who makes this lens for Pentax?

A: It has the same optical properties and dimensions as the Tamron 70-210mm f4 lens so it is probably made by Tamron. However, since Pentax has their name on the lens, it is essentially made by Pentax and warranted by Pentax.

Replaced my G10 with this and found it to be easier to use and set up than the older product. If seems a little slow at times focusing and getting ready to shoot, but nothing too annoying. Construction is very impressive. I bought a spare

I just recently bought this camera, and have only taken a few pictures, but from what I've taken the picture looks great. My plan was to use this for vacations, and from what I've seen so far, the picture quality's exactly what I was looking for. The picture quality is definitely a plus, but its all the features that make this camera worth it. For those who are new to cameras, you can just throw it on automatic, and take good pictures. But for those who are a little more camera savvy, you get all the features you would from an SLR.

I had a hard time trying to decide to get silver or black, and I am happy with my choice. I think the silver will show scratches or dings less. Takes great pictures, and has many capabilities. I am still learning. The pop-up flash kept suprising me, since my other cameras do not have one, and since it is such a small camera.

I've owned every Powershot since the S30. This is definitely the greatest of them all and they were all great.

I am a significant stock photo shooter and I got this to use when I simply dont want to carry the usual 16 pounds of camera and lenses around. Likes: 1-RAW, 2-size (about the size of my cell phone)and fits comfortably in my front pocket.3-Very good even metering, good quality photos (yes I process all of them through Lightroom, but that is the same with my pro gear. Dislikes: none so far----however no viewfinder make it impossible to see in bright sunlight so you have to know your controls well. Shutter lag, but I am use to a 5D and wont use this for action shots, although see the basketball example below which is not sale worthy by any means but will satisfy any hobbyist. If you dont have LIghtroom or some post processing you will see noise at higher ISOs even with the Digic 5 processor. Video is not my forte yet but with such a small camera I am going to need practice to keep it steady. I like the video however and think I can learn.

This was an upgrade from an earlier Powershot A2000IS. My normal big camera is a Canon 50D with two lenses, but sometimes you need a pocket camera as well. This one replaced that. I just came back from the Dominican Republic, but I was staying in modest accommodations and not a resort. This was a Christian mission trip, and we stayed out in a village. My big set would have been a distraction, and many times the average per annum income of most people; and a temptation for the unscrupulous. This one looks like a cheap pocket camera, but performs like the big one. I like that it has the high end DIGIC 5 processor. The ring is excellent for changing ISO quickly, when transiting from the interior of a dark cathedral into the bright sunlight. And the low lighting shots are fantastic. This won't replace my big SLR, but when you need to be inconspicuous in a Third World country, need to pull it out of your pocket and get the snap, need to shoot in low lighting and still want excellent work, this is the one. There is nothing I don't like about this camera. I did have one question about the file size being 1/2 the size of JPEGs on the A2000IS, but a very competent Canon Tech rep explained that I was getting the full quality of my older camera, but that the DIGIC 5 processor did a more efficient job of processing the shot. It also shots RAW, but as most of my shots were of people and rural villages, I didn't use that feature.

Great little compact camera, still learning. It has many more features than I know how to use. The picture quality looks great! The feel is solid. Ideal pocket size and slim. I have large hands so I do fumble a bit but the wife has no problems at all. Hands down the camera is superior to others that I have owned. The pop-up flash is on the top left of the camera, so you need to take care when the picture requires the flash. I'll just have to learn to hold the camera a little differently. I've spent less on other cameras and that is what I got. This unit seems definitely worth the money.
