Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what are the measurement of the unit?

A: Gross Weight = 0.91 lb Height = 3.5 in Length = 12.75 in (w/ antenna) Width = 4.75 in

Q: 2. i get a lot of popping using the wl185 with the ulxd1. what else can i try?

A: It's depends on what you mean by popping. If its electronic noise or acoustic plosives. If it sounds electronic then get a new mic. If it's vocal plosives then move the mic so it's not so close to the persons mouth.

Q: 3. What is Lemo3 and do I need it for a gutair to connect to the Ulxd... thx

A: The Shure ULXD1 Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter with LEMO3 has a LEMO 3-pin input connector. The same transmitter is also available with a TA4 connector. These are two different types of audio connections which you would use to connect audio sources to the transmitter.

Q: 4. Does the Shure ULXD1 Transmitter come with a mic or is that sold separately?

A: Microphones are not included but are available as optional purchases.

Q: 5. I was told by another dealer that i cannot use a ULXD2 transmitter with a QLXD4 receiver, does anyone know if this is really true. cause under compatible TX's it says you can?

A: Yes, but both devices must have the same operating frequency band, such as G50. Group and Channel settings within the frequency band are the same for ULX-D and QLX-D. The Group and Channel number for each device have to be set manually, as the InfraRed sync will not work.

Q: 6. Can the QLXD1 G50 beltpack be programmed to the L50 frequencies, or the receiver programmed to the G50 frequencies?

A: They cannot they are two different models and they have different connectors. The QLXD1 is a TA4 and the L50 is a 3 pin lemo.

Q: 7. Does ulxd1 transmitter h50 work with ulxd4 h51 receiver?

A: Yes, the Shure ULXD1 Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter for the H50 frequency band (534 to 598 MHz) will work with the Shure QLXD4 Digital Wireless Receiver for the H51 frequency band (534 to 598 MHz) since the H50 and H51 frequency bands overlap and the Shure ULX-D and QLX-D components are compatible for use together.

Q: 8. is there a difference between buying this and two single channel digital wireless receivers ?. apart from saving some money

A: There is no difference apart from saving money and space.

Q: 9. How many ULXD4D receivers that you can link without the D.A

A: you can only connect two systems without Distribution

Q: 10. How many watts does the Shure ULXD4D pull down?

A: That unit does 9 watts of power consumption.

My first venture into wireless mics, so I expected there to be a steeper learning curve, but this is easy to use, has great range and the equipment doesnt feel cheap or fragile. Very happy with the improved audio quality that Im now getting with this product.

I bought this as an upgrade from a dual transmitter Azden that I had used for many years. The microphones sound great and I use them in very noisy places and it cuts out the background noise very well. I also like the autoscan and syncing feature that allows me to find the best channels for the location I am shooting at and quickly sync the two receivers to the transmitter. I am considering buying a second one and replacing the Azden altogether.

I won't claim to be an audiophile, or have extensive experience using audio gear in a multitude of different scenarios. What I can say is I done a ton or research before buying and found no real reason not to buy this kit, or the brand.

It seems to be a knock off Sony, and mind you, it might not be identical to the Sony, I would not be surprised if its made in the same factory as them and being sold as knock off brand of the mostly the same thing as the Sony. A 'less' model if you will.

So in my tests, and in use, I have not found any problems, it works. For the price, you get a case and basically everything you need. If your semi pro, just getting into the wireless audio, I would strongly recommend this product. If your a major productions company with a big budget, then why not just get the Sony and be sure? Otherwise, very happy with it so far!

Full disclosure, I haven’t used these wireless devices on a ‘job’ yet. However, I did test them and I was surprised by the results. The audio is clear and the range was quite good. Even when the subject was out of the line of sight (in different rooms etc ). The real surprise was the build quality. The housings are metal! We’re so used to plastic that anything that isn’t made out of it is shocking. The display is very easy to read and I really like the battery compartment. It sounds like a little thing, but when you’re knee deep in the stress of a wedding and you need to change batteries, it’s the little things that matter. There’s a kind of ‘pinch’ mechanism that allows for quick access to the battery compartment and it locks back in place when the new batteries are installed. Overall, I’d have to say that I’m very impressed with this product. Hopefully, I’ll remain this impressed when I actually put them in service.

We just purchased 8 of these wireless mics, and rack-mounted them. The set-up was easy and the sound quality was easily adjusted using the on-board gain. We are very happy with the purchase.

Our group bought two of these units. This is a solid performing wireless system. The bodypack transmitter has a metal case instead of plastic while being physically smaller than the Shure analog wireless transmitters that we were replacing (move out of the 600 MHz band due to TV repacking). Audio sounds better than old analog wireless units. Manual is a little thin on use of Shure's lithium battery pack and charger such as leaving the transmitter in the charger after fully charged or not. I am happy with the purchase from B & H and the Shure's digital system. We are buying a third unit shortly.

My church has struggled with inconsistent signal strength from our current wireless microphones. This one just works. It scans for an ideal frequency, you pair it with the transmitter, and then it works. Not a single problem.

This is a relatively new product for use in weekend services, but it has worked well.  The instrument sounds clear and full. When I first tested the system I played for 30 minutes before I put the guitar down...it really was nice to hear the Martin through FOH via the QLXD14.  I prefer it to other Sennheiser products Ive previously used and other Shure products from the GLX wireless family.  Its worth it to spend a little more to get the quality of sound.
