The Countryman E6s Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation. The compact size and placement just in front of the ear make this microphone particularly well-suited for intimate theater and broadcast applications, or any use where low mic visibility is a key factor.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern provides a generous and forgiving pickup area around the perimeter of the capsule, while the stainless steel construction stands up to daily use, makeup, and sweat. The mic also comes with 3 different interchangeable caps that let you choose between a flat, bright, or very bright frequency response.

This version of the E6s is cocoa and comes with a 2mm diameter Duramax cable. It terminates to a Microdot connector for use with Sennheiser wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The MKE 600 is shown taking 1.5 volt AA batteries. Can it handle a 3.7 volt AA lithium battery?

A: No, a 3.7V AA lithium battery is not compatible for use with the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone. Sennheiser recommends using only 1.5V or 1.2V single-use or rechargeable AA batteries with the MKE 600.

Q: 2. The XLR connector on the MKE 600 appears to be upside down, is this the case with all Sennheiser shotgun mics, or just the MKE 600?

A: Not sure what you mean by upside down, but the orientation of the XLR connector is irrelevant to the performance of the microphone.

Q: 3. Will this fit the microphone mount on the Sony FX6?

A: Yes. The Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone BH #SEMKE600 will fit the microphone holder on the handle unit of the SONY FX6 cinema camera. Dimensions:ø: 0.79 x L: 10.08" / ø: 20 x L: 256 mm

Q: 4. dose this mic work with Sennheiser SKP 100 G4 to have a wireless shotgun mic ?

A: Yes, you can use the Sennheiser MKE 600 with the SKP 100 G4 as long as you are using a AA battery to power the mic. If you want to use phantom power from a wireless transmitter instead of the AA battery to power the mic, then you can use the SKP 500 G4.

Q: 5. Would this microphone work on outdoor sets? I'm seeing it works well indoors 3-5 feet away, but nothing about outdoor sets.

A: Yes the Sennheiser MKE-600 works well outdoors as well, at the same distance of 3-5 feet from the dialog source.

Q: 6. Does any one has experience with NTG2 and AT897 as well? How do you compare these three mics? I plan to buy one of this mic to work with Tascam DR-70D for voice-over and filed recording? What will be the best choice? Thanks a lot.

A: A four-and-a-half year old question - why not? I don’t have first-hand experience with those mics but I just ordered the MKE 600. Why? It’s on sale but I preferred it over those options anyway. To me, the NTG2 is overly sharp and bright around 5-7kHz. The AT897 has a good sound and low noise but the MKE600 has a slightly more resonant-sounding 700Hz range in addition to its better balance overall. Each of these mics has a sonic signature across varied sources and environments and I found the MKE to be least annoying and, in fact, rather pleasing. I’m definitely looking forward to trying and hopefully keeping it.

Q: 7. Would this microphone work wirelessly with a Sennheiser SKP100 G3 transmitter ? I've read conflicting opinions online. Thanks

A: Provided the Sennheiser MKE 600 has a AA battery, the SKP100G3 transmitter will allow you to have a wireless shotgun mic.

Q: 8. What kind of screw size does it need to attach to a hot shoe adaptor or to mount on a boom pole?

A: To mount the MKE 600 on a boom pole you would need a 3/8" thread shock mount.

Q: 9. Anyone know what shockmount that is? I just want to buy the shockmount

A: That is the Auray DUSM-1 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/885660-REG/auray_dusm_1_universal_shock_mount.html

Q: 10. Does the mke 600 support plugin power?

A: The Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone can be powered with a single AA battery or with 48V of phantom power, which is a much higher amount of voltage than plug-in power. Phantom power is delivered through an XLR mic input while plug-in power is typically 1 to 10V and it is delivered through a 3.5mm mic input. The MKE 600 will not work with plug-in power from a 3.5mm mic input, but will work with phantom power from an XLR mic input.
