A: I have used the arm to its maximum load, but the boom clamp is inadequate to hold the load at maximum extension. I ended up using a locking block and tackle run from the counterweight to the stand to keep the arm raised into position and to facilitate the smooth lowering of it. A: The Impact Boom Arm's locking knobs are plastic on the outside with metal components on the interior. The rachet handle is made of lightweight aluminum.

Q: 3. Will this work atop a Manfrotto 5001 stand with the 124 clamp?

A: The 5001B stand is way too small to securely support a boom arm, pivot clamp, and whatever you are going to put on the end of the arm. And the top section of tubing is too thin to accept the 124 pivot clamp.I would suggest you go with a stand like the 1052BAC or similar.

A: Hi! I use this boom arm on an assortment of stands. The way it attaches is actually clamping on, not mounting to the top. So, as long as the stand you're using can support the weight, you should be good to go. It is a very heavy boom arm, but incredibly sturdy. Hope that helps.

A: These are the listed parameters 88 lb (40 kg) @ Minimum extension 22 lb (10 kg) @ Maximum extension, you test the arm on different extension length's until you are comfortable on how stable it is.
