The Countryman E6s Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation. The compact size and placement just in front of the ear make this microphone particularly well-suited for intimate theater and broadcast applications, or any use where low mic visibility is a key factor.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern provides a generous and forgiving pickup area around the perimeter of the capsule, while the stainless steel construction stands up to daily use, makeup, and sweat. The mic also comes with 3 different interchangeable caps that let you choose between a flat, bright, or very bright frequency response.

This version of the E6s is cocoa and comes with a 1mm diameter cable. It terminates to a Switchcraft TA3-F connector for use with Samson wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does it work with the sony a7s II?It can be used with the shoe or need the mini jack?

A: It works with the new multi interface. So, I would assume that it will work with this camera, as it has that interface. It also has a standard stereo mini jack and the connecting cable comes with it, so that can be plugged into any camera with an external microphone input.

Q: 2. When mounted on the SONY RX10 via the shoe this microphone disables the manual audio levels. Am I therefore correct in assuming that the RX10 is now recording with auto levels? But when I plug-in the included connecting cable in addition manual levels are once again usable. So when mounted to the shoe, with connecting cable plugged-in is the only way to use manual audio levels with the RX10?SONY offer no explanation as to what's actually happening here!

A: The way the mic works is correct and the only controls if using via the shoe are just what are on the mic itself. To get the other controls from the camera it needs to be attached via the mic jack.

Q: 3. Will this work with a Sony RX100VII?

A: The Sony ECM-XYST1M is not directly compatible with the Sony RX100VII.

Q: 4. will this mic work on a TVR-900?

A: Unfortunately, the ECM-XYST1M mic is not compatible with the TVR900.

Q: 5. hello will this work with my sony nex 5n?

A: No, it would not. The Sony Alpha NEX-5N Digital Camera does not have a Multi-Interface hot shoe on the top of the camera and would not be compatible for use with the Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo Microphone.

Q: 6. Sony np Fw50 lithium battery

A: Unfortunately, I do not know what you need, as there is no question listed above. If you are inquiring about using the Sony NP-FW50 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery with the Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo Microphone, then no, it is not compatible. The Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo Microphone does not need its own battery. It receives power via the Multi-Interface Hot Shoe on your camera.

Q: 7. can I use this with the atem min extreme iso pro hdmi version?

A: The Blackmagic Design ATEM Microphone Converter is only designed to work with the new ATEM Television Studio switchers over the MADI in/out port, which the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO HDMI switcher does not have.

Q: 8. Shoe is too large for my HDR-PJ 760 is there a work around?

A: Yes Sony change their shoe size however this adapter will convert it to fit the HDR-PJ 760 camera https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/913242-REG/sony_adpmac_shoe_adapter.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 9. Where is the frequency response chart for this microphone? Not just the high/low range, and not the polar pattern which is obvious.

A: Sony does not offer much information in the way of detailed specs for the ECM-XYST1M, which is not so unusual for consumer products. I was able to find this page which includes two charts based on directivity for 0 and 120 degrees at 1 kHz for 0, -10, -20 and -30 dB left and right channels. http://www.sony.net/Products/diacc/mic/03_products/3-1.html If you have specific questions or need additional details that are not available on the web, you can reach out to Sony directly. You can contact them by phone at 239-245-6356 Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 9 PM EST. You can also contact them through live chat, by email, or look for information through their community forum. Q: 10. Is this better than the rode video mic go?

A: I have never tried the Rhode microphone. What I could tell you is that the Sony Mic on my A6000 is phenomenal, I have used it on multiple recordings and it is crisp and clear.

Oh boy, this Rode NTG-2 Kit is every filmmaker's dream, especially if you're just starting out. Don't get me wrong, the Sennheisers are the industry standard shotgun microphones, but the Rode come next to it, and even if you can't get the superior NTG-3, you'll be pretty happy with this one, especially for booming outside environments and for interviews. I'd been surprised by this Rode's sound during the times I directed commercials or short films and my sound man used it. Had to get one myself.

Gets a great sound and does a fine job of rejecting ambient sources.

I am a full time student of Visual Anthropology, and a good shotgun is a must. I tried my NTG-2 attached to Canon XA20 during club music session, night city scenes, interviews, and field archaeology project. The results are awesome in every single scenario.

I use this product for indoor audio for indie short-films. Very clean recording mic and does a great job diminishing side noise. Can't find anything I don't like about it.

Bought this mic in addition to a few sennheiser I use on projects. This mic is excellent. Sounds just as good as some of the more expensive $ dollar microphones.

Good pickup on the Mic and it doesn't add all that much weight to the boom pole. We have a couple of these for student projects and they can stand the wear and tear.
