The Countryman E6s Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation. The compact size and placement just in front of the ear make this microphone particularly well-suited for intimate theater and broadcast applications, or any use where low mic visibility is a key factor.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern provides a generous and forgiving pickup area around the perimeter of the capsule, while the stainless steel construction stands up to daily use, makeup, and sweat. The mic also comes with 3 different interchangeable caps that let you choose between a flat, bright, or very bright frequency response.

This version of the E6s is light beige and comes with a 2mm diameter Duramax cable. It terminates to a 1-pin Lemo connector for use with Sennheiser wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the length of the XLR to 3.5mm TRS cable? thanks

A: The Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone includes a coiled XLR to 3.5mm cable that is 15" (40 cm) long. The cable is also available separately as the Sennheiser KA 600 XLR Female to 1/8" TRS Male Connection Cable (B&H # SEKA600) if you need a replacement or spare.

Q: 2. What kind of screw size does it need to attach to a hot shoe adaptor or to mount on a boom pole?

A: To mount the MKE 600 on a boom pole you would need a 3/8" thread shock mount.

Q: 3. CAN THIS MICROPHONE BE CONNECTED TO THE XLR MIXER IN ANY WAY?

A: The Sennheiser MKE 400 Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone can be connected to an XLR mic input using an adapter such as B&H #ROVXLR.

Q: 4. I'm having space problem with the right-angle end at my X-T4 camera. The right-angle end doesn't allow the camera LCD to rotate freely. Does B&H carry a high quality but very short straight-end extension to be used with this Sennheiser cable?

A: You can get a different cable to use with the Sennheiser MKE 400 Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone. The Comica Audio Locking 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm Male TRS Coiled Cable (B&H # COCVMDLCPX) has straight connectors on both ends and can be used instead of the Sennheiser CL35 cable with the angled connectors that is included with the mic. The Comica cable will work exactly the same way. The other option would be to attach a short extension like the Pearstone 3.5mm Stereo Male to Female Extension Cable - Black, 1.5' (B&H # PEMMSB101) onto the end of the Sennheiser cable.

Q: 5. What is the difference between the first and second generation of this product?

A: The Sennheiser MKE 400 Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone (2nd Generation), B&H # SEMKE400M, now has upgraded features over the first-generation microphone: Along with its redesigned appearance, the second-generation MKE 400 boasts significant upgrades (listed below) over the original MKE 400 to make it even more effective and versatile: - Swappable 3.5mm TRS and TRRS output cables - 3.5mm headphone port with volume control - 3-stage gain control (the original MKE 400 had two gain positions) - Auto-power function - Integrated wind protection - Furry windshield included for outdoor wind protection - Compatible with Sennheiser's CL 35 USB-C cable (available separately) for direct digital connection to a mobile device's USB Type-C port: B&H # SECL35USBC

Q: 6. Shock mount

A: It comes with a basic shock mount; works okay on a boompole but might want to upgrade it for critical studio use.

Q: 7. Will this work on the $299 Rode blimp windshield?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone can be used within the Rode Blimp Windshield and Rycote Shock Mount Suspension System for Shotgun Microphones (BH #ROBLIMPR).

Q: 8. How is the handling noise & wind blockage? Ive heard "not so good" even with the windscreen on. Anyone use this in light to moderate winds?

A: Handling noise should be minimal, if any, when the Sennheiser MKE 400 Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone is mounted securely to a camera shoe. The included windscreen should assist with low-wind scenarios but is not meant for use in high-wind situations.

Q: 9. is it balanced mic? in both cases - phantom, battery?

A: I think you're asking if has a balanced input? If so, the answer is yes. With its power switch set to off , it takes phantom power from the mic cable. With the power switch set to on , it powers itself from an internal AA battery.

Q: 10. Is it able to use phantom power when plugged into XLR and avoid using battery power?

A: The Sennheiser MKE 400 Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone (2nd Generation) uses AAA batteries as its power source as opposed to plug-in power through its input connection. While phantom power could be converted to plug-in power using an adapter such as the Rode VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (BH #ROVXLRP), this would only trigger the MKE 400's auto on/off function but would not power the microphone without batteries.
