Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what computer software or operating system is needed for this printer?

A: This printer has drivers available for Windows and Mac through OS 10.9.3.

Q: 2. OS10.9.3?

A: works with os 10

Q: 3. What's the difference between this product and product # DNDS404X6P? Are they the same? If so, why is the other one more expensive?

A: The DNDS404X6P is perforated so you are able to easily size 2x 2x6 inch strips from a 4x6, without the use of a trimmer, for photo booth-style printing.

Q: 4. Can I use this item on Mitsubishi CP3800 printer?

A: The DNP 8 x 12" Print Pack for DS80 Printer (2-Pack), B&H # DNDS808X12, is not compatible with Mitsubishi Printers.

Q: 5. Do these rolls have end caps on both ends of the photo paper roll? Over time the paper (in a new box) curls and you can't place it on the guide roll anymore. I want to be sure that new rolls have end caps on both sides!

A: No this paper roll would not have a paper end caps on both sides.

Q: 6. Can you buy just the ribbon? I cant find it on the B&H website.

A: NO! And you would never want to do that! When you change the paper you always change the ribbon and vice a versa!

Q: 7. Does it come with a photo catch tray or do you have to purchase separately?

A: If you are buying it for 5x7 there is a separate, longer metal catch tray used. If you don't use it the photo will NOT eject properly.

Q: 8. Is it necessary to change paper rolls between print sizes? I would like to offer 4x6 , 5x7 , and 6x9 prints. After some consideration, I suspect this printer would print 4x6 and 6x9 prints with one roll and that I would have to change rolls of paper to print 5x7 prints. Do I have this correct? Or would I also have to change rolls when I change from printing 4x6's to 6x9's as well?

A: Yes the printer will require you to switch out the rolls and ribbons for each different print size.

Q: 9. I worked at a retail lab that had their ds40 set up to print 4x6 and 5x7 on the same roll of paper. The 5x7 needed to be cut because it had a bit of a border on one side. . How do I set my printer up to do this?

A: I can only imagine that happening with using 6 inch roll paper with the 6x8 ribbon and setting the 5x7 to print vertical and the 4x6 horizontal in the printer settings.

Q: 10. Hi! does anyone know how I should keep this paper and ink in the sense of temperature? I live in Puerto Rico so here its kind of hot and at nights we use the air conditioning so it gets cold.... I obviously don't want the media kits to damage.... Thanks!!!

A: It should be ok. I have left it in many different places over the last few years and have never had an issue

Pages are sturdy and dont crinkle. Space at top for notes is useful.

I have over 150 thousand images on film that I am in the process of scanning and then putting in proper unified storage. I find that Print File is the most durable and suits my purposes the best. Since I live abroad I'm always ordering them when I know someone is traveling. I have nothing negative to say about Print File. They have such a large variety of different items for film storage that there should be something for everyones needs

Very good way to archive 35mm negatives. Especially if you tend to expose more than 36 frames on a roll, there's the seventh slot to put remander. Recently this has come in handy for bulk loaded films especially where frame count exceeds 36 exposures. For proof sheets I tend to take fils out of the sleeves and contact print them directly onto fiber based multi contrast papers. These sleeves are easy to remove and replace the film than others I have used. It is still very easy to misplace films once in these storage pages yet not as frustraighting as trying to find digital images on a hardrive that are mis filed. It would be cool to be able to make contact prints through the page but, 8X10 paper is just sufficient for 6 strips of 6 exposures. It's a little daunting but most of the excess pis, frame 36/7 if you will do not make it on the contact sheet. Sometimes these are the best from the roll. Bulk loading dends to ruin this last frame situation. If your bulk loading and can't judge when this last abortive exposure will occur things can be a drag.

These things work great. My film scanner calls for strips of 6 frames, plus when you end up shooting more than 36 exposures on a roll this will hold the extras.

Definitely recommend the 7 rows of 6 negs so you can fit a full 36 exposure roll onto one sleeve. Perfect for archiving and protecting your 35mm negatives. It has binder holes, but you would need a non-standard 3 ring binder (little bigger than A4)

keeps the dust off film and protects the film from scratches. its nice to keep all my film in one binder so ! don't lose anything.

I've recently started developing black and white film at home therefore storing the negatives properly has become a necessity. Negatives fit in quite easily and being able to use it with a binder is really great.
