If it gets strong enough signal, it will deliver that to the speaker and feedback will result. Good speaker placement is also key in this equation. The more you can get the mic/talent OFF speaker axis (farther from directly in front) - the more HF will be attenuated naturally and the whole system will be less sensitive to feedback.
