The Countryman E6s Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation. The compact size and placement just in front of the ear make this microphone particularly well-suited for intimate theater and broadcast applications, or any use where low mic visibility is a key factor.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern provides a generous and forgiving pickup area around the perimeter of the capsule, while the stainless steel construction stands up to daily use, makeup, and sweat. The mic also comes with 3 different interchangeable caps that let you choose between a flat, bright, or very bright frequency response.

This version of the E6s is tan and comes with a 1mm diameter cable. It terminates to a 4-pin Hirose connector for use with specific* Sony wireless transmitters.

The mic comes with 3 interchangeable caps that provide you with a flat, bright, or very bright frequency response

The mic has a medium sensitivity that is ideal for loud speaking and vocal applications

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the XLR-K3M

A: Yes, the Sony ECM-678/9X Shotgun Microphone is compatible for use with the Sony XLR-K3M Dual-Channel Digital XLR Audio Adapter Kit.

Q: 2. I am interested in this microphone. Is there a way to connect Multi Interface Shoe with a cable so that I can use this microphone on a boom in our studio (but still be connected via the cable to the camera)?

A: No, the ECM-B1M is designed specifically for cable-free connection with Sony's Multi-Interface Shoe. It only works when used while attached to the camera. At this time there is no accessory available that would allow the mic to be used off-camera.

Q: 3. Can I use this on a Zoom F2 and/or on a Røde Wireless PRO transmitter?

A: Although the Sony ECM-322BMP Professional Headworn Microphone uses a locking 3.5mm output, it is wired for Sony devices only. Sony uses a different wiring scheme than most other manufacturers, so this microphone (and other Sony lavaliers & headsets) will not be compatible with brands such as Zoom and Rode.

Q: 4. How would you compare this to the Sennheiser 418s?

A: Hi Jesse R, The ECM680S is one of Sonys best shotgun microphones. It is switchable between mono and stereo and I don't believe that is something the Sennheiser does. I would also say that at almost half the price of the Sennheiser it is an excellent value. Ralph

Q: 5. Will this work if used in a cold shoe mount with the 3.5mm jack?

A: Yes, the Sony ECM-G1 Ultracompact Camera-Mount Vlogger Shotgun Microphone offers wide compatibility with DSLR cameras that have a standard shoe mount and 3.5mm microphone input connection.

Q: 6. Can this send separate M and S channels to the sound recorder for decoding later in post?

A: It's decoded inside the mic. All you need is a Y cable 5 pin XLR to two 3 pin XLR's. This is the cable B&H # RECAXSTE you can find it on the B&H website.

Q: 7. Would this be compatible with the Sennheiser ew100 G-series transmitter (I have the G4)?

A: Sony headsets are not compatible with Sennheiser wireless due to different wiring schemes. For a similar low profile headset for Sennheiser, here's an option BH #GAHS8OBG4MXD.

Q: 8. How long will microphone operate on AAA battery? Can I record sound for 1 hr or 2hrs.?

A: The microphone runs off the hot shoe from the Sony camera, does not run off batteries. You can record sound as long as the camera battery will last. This mike is for a Sony camera with Multi-Interface shoe only.

Q: 9. What would it be like paired with the Zoom H6 ? I have to Sony ECM-MS2 and it sounds flat no bass almost like a mono sound.

A: The Sony ECM-680S M/S Stereo Shotgun Microphone is compatible for use with the Zoom H6 Portable Handy Recorder. For stereo audio on two channels, you would connect the mic to two XLR inputs on the H6 by using the included XLR 5-pin cable and an adapter such as the Sennheiser ACS5 5-pin XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Y Cable for MKH418S and MKE44P Microphones (B&H # SEACS5) or by using a cable like the RODE NT4-DXLR Stereo 5-Pin XLR to Dual 3-Pin XLR Cable for NT-4 Fixed X/Y Condenser Microphone - 10.3' (B&H # RONT4DXLRCBL) or the Remote Audio 5-Pin Stereo XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Y-Cable - 25' (B&H # RECAXSTE25).

Q: 10. Will this mic work with a dual hot shoe splitter on an a7riii? I want to use it alongside a small video light that has it's own power, so only one side has to be hot for the mic. And does the dual hot shoe need to be specifically for Sony cameras? Thanks for the help.

A: Unfortunately a multi-interface splitter does not exist as far as we have seen. In order to use a microphone along with a light, my best advice would be to select a different microphone that allows a cable to run into the microphone input on the camera. These are two possible microphones that would work in a similar price range. B&H # ROVIDEOMICRO and POSCL1075.
