The Countryman E6s Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation. The compact size and placement just in front of the ear make this microphone particularly well-suited for intimate theater and broadcast applications, or any use where low mic visibility is a key factor.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern provides a generous and forgiving pickup area around the perimeter of the capsule, while the stainless steel construction stands up to daily use, makeup, and sweat. The mic also comes with 3 different interchangeable caps that let you choose between a flat, bright, or very bright frequency response.

This version of the E6s is black and comes with a 1mm diameter cable. It terminates to a 4-pin Lemo connector for use with Telex wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a significant advantage to pairing this with a Zoom F6 vs the Zoom H6? Some context, it would be for audience recordings of stand-up comedy shows.

A: Yes. The Zoom F6 offers Ambisonics, WAV & MP3 Formats, 32-Bit Float recording to avoid clipping, and also offers the superior low-noise microphone preamps and wider dynamic range.

Q: 2. whats the difference between the Sony ECM 678, now discontinued mic and the new Sony ECM 678/9x shotgun mic?

A: The available documentation from Sony shows identical specifications for both mics. The only mentioned difference would be in the included accessories, with the ECM-678/9x a short XLR cable is provided for connection to the camera.

Q: 3. Can audio recorded with this mic be used in Davinci Resolve? Do you use the plugin or something else?

A: Thank you for your question. In the Fairlight tab of Resolve you can pan the 4 recorded audio channels to create a 360 degree audio experience. .

Q: 4. how can I add a 50-foot cable to the NT-SF1?

A: I use 2 and 4 channel sub snakes with an XLR fanout at each end, typically 25' in length. Thats usually long enough. to reach a stage box. The fewer separate cables to run, the less to hide or tape down (and roll up).

Q: 5. How would you compare this to the Sennheiser 418s?

A: Hi Jesse R, The ECM680S is one of Sonys best shotgun microphones. It is switchable between mono and stereo and I don't believe that is something the Sennheiser does. I would also say that at almost half the price of the Sennheiser it is an excellent value. Ralph

Q: 6. Can this send separate M and S channels to the sound recorder for decoding later in post?

A: It's decoded inside the mic. All you need is a Y cable 5 pin XLR to two 3 pin XLR's. This is the cable B&H # RECAXSTE you can find it on the B&H website.

Q: 7. What is the S/N ratio?

A: The RODE SoundField NT-SF1 Ambisonic Microphone has a signal to noise ratio of 77 dB.

Q: 8. I bought this mic, but I noticed that the channel 4 record level is significantly lower than 1-3. is this normal? or do I have a defective mic? I'm recording on a zoom F6 set for ambisonic recording.

A: It may be, but first make sure that each of the 4 input gain settings on the recorder are the same. If they are, just switch one of the known working channels to the one that seems to be lower and see if you get the same result. If so, you may have a defective mic.

Q: 9. Is the plugin Rode provides for processing the audio work with 32-bit files? Thinking about getting this to use with a MixPre 6 II.

A: Certainly can - no problem at all. This microphone is not digital and does not sample.

Q: 10. Can the M4 mount to a camera hot shoe with with audio isolation?

A: The Zoom M4 MicTrak Stereo Microphone and Recorder has a 1/4-20 mounting hole, which can be used along with accessories like BH #RESACS14M for shoe mounting.
