A wide-angle lens inherently has a close focusing distance already, and normally you are shooting wide, and don't need any magnification, because if 35 mm is close enough, just zoom in to 55 mm. You have both abilities, but there really not usable on your lens. If you had a 600 mm lens, then this extension tube would be a good accessory to have.
