Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it accept trs 1/4" as input?

A: Yes, the Fostex RM-3 Rackmount 20W Speaker System accepts both XLR and 1/4" TS analog input, as well as AES/EBU digital input.

Q: 2. Volume ntrol? Seems there is no knob on speaker..... how can you control volume? If I need external control, who makes the best?

A: There is not a volume control. although there is an input sensitivity control. The best way to control volume is by using a Mackie Big Knob: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1313074-REG/mackie_big_knob_passive_studio.html

Q: 3. What is the best way to attach this to my MBP? I'm doing video editing and I don't have any Mixers / USB audio interface stuff. I just have the 1/8 inch headphone jack....

A: You can use a cable to connect from the headphone jack in your Mac Book Pro to the back of this monitor. However your audio will sound nicer if you intergrade a audio interface to the setup. The cable you will need to connect two of the Genelecs to the computer is in the link bellow. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1102499-REG/hosa_technology_hmx_010y_1_8_stereo_mini_to.html

Q: 4. Is there a way to adjust the microphone gain from the speaker?

A: While there is not a multi-stage gain control, the Yamaha MS101-4 Powered Monitor Speaker 30W Class-D's single Volume pot on its front panel will affect the level of a connected microphone signal.

Q: 5. Did Rokit solve the black goo of death problem? I have a pair of Rocket 6s that are self destructing because of this goo.

A: KRK has not formally acknowledged the Black Goo Issue.

Q: 6. hi, i would like to see a graphical frequency response for the fostex 6301 N series? please. thank you so much.

A: There are no graphical frequency response charts available currently, however the frequency response range of the Fostex 6301N series is from 70hz to 15khz.

Q: 7. Can a 2nd speaker be connected for stereo?

A: Not directly, no. You can add a second MS101-4 Powered Monitor to allow for a stereo setup, but the second monitor can't receive the corresponding signal via the first MS101-4. If you are sending the left channel to the first one, you can only send the same channel to a second speaker via the line-out XLR port. You will still need to wire the second speaker to the main device you are using to send a stereo signal to the speakers.

Q: 8. Can I plug a 3.5mm stereo cable from my PC's line-out jack to this speaker's input?

A: Yes, you can go from the headphone output on your PC or the 3.5mm line out on your PC into the line in jack on the back of the Yamaha MS101-4 Powered Monitor Speaker 30W Class-D (Single).

Q: 9. What is the A/D Converter for?

A: Because these monitors have DSP (Digital Signal Processors,) a high quality 24 bit/192 kHz A/D converter from Burr-Brown assures a pristine signal to the DSP section. The PWM-amplifiers are directly connected to the DSP section, so no additional conversion is necessary. This guarantees an extreme reliability.

Q: 10. Can I use it as desktop speakers?

A: Yes. These will work on a desktop. Isolation pads are usually a good option to ensure the desk does not resonate with the speakers. I would recommend using an audio interface for the best sound out of a computer, but a cable like this can be a less costly solution to output sound from a computer: https://bhpho.to/3yudNDe
