The beige B6 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone, Standard Sensitivity, with Pigtail Leads Connector for Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a very small lav microphone measuring one tenth of an inch in diameter with changeable protective caps, which provide moisture resistance and color options. The mic can be used to capture audio for theater, broadcast, churches, and general lavalier applications.

Built with a low handling noise and rugged construction, the B6 lavalier microphone can be easily hidden in hair or on costumes, or taped to a performer's face. The aramid cable and ultra-thin diaphragm deliver a natural sound while its tiny size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection. The B6's cable terminates to a pigtail that is stripped and tinned (unterminated) with a two-wire connector for use with wireless bodypack transmitters.

Additionally, swappable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or match other microphones. The B6 microphone is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. These caps can be quickly removed for cleaning or replacement.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B6 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.

The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps, and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.

The B6 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 140 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.

Standard, for most uses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could you put this recorder and mic on a table and record an interview or group conversation with a single mic and device?

A: Yes, but you will need to use a different microphone. The Olympus ME-33 Boundary Microphone (B&H #OLME33) is a boundary microphone that is designed to pickup conversation from a group of people. It operates using plug-in power and has a 3.5mm connector on the attached cable. Since the F2 has a locking 3.5mm input, you will need to use an adapter that has the same type of connector such as the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Output Cable (B&H #SECL1). You can join the CL1 with the mic's cable using a Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H #HOASMFSMF).

Q: 2. would this be able to record off a dj soundboard?

A: The Zoom F2 Ultracompact Portable Field Recorder is intended for use with a microphone for recording mic level signal. A mixer's output signal is line level. In order to connect a mixer to the input of the F2, you will need to use adapters as well as a line-to-mic attenuator. Since the F2 has a locking 3.5mm TRS input, you can use the Sennheiser CL-1 Cable (B&H # SECL1), which has a locking 3.5mm TRS male connector on one side and a standard non-locking 3.5mm TRS male connector on the other side. Then, you can attach a coupler like the Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H # HOASMFSMF). Since many DJ mixers have RCA output, you can use the Sescom Attenuating Line to Mic Level Cable - TRS Male to Male RCA, 18" (B&H # SES43DBMZ2P), which has a built-in attenuator to convert the line level signal from the mixer to mic level while also providing connections to the mixer's RCA output.

Q: 3. can i add rode videomic ntg on this?

A: Yes, you can use a standard TRS cable for the 3.5mm output. Since the F2 has a locking connector, use a cable like the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Output Cable for EW Series Camera-Mount Receiver (B&H# SECL1) which has a non-locking 3.5mm TRS connector on one side and a locking 3.5mm TRS connector for the recorder's input. This cable is 20" long but you can use a standard aux extension cable like the Hosa Technology Stereo Mini Male to Stereo Mini Female Audio Cable - 10' (B&H# HOSMMSMF10) or any similar cable in the length you need. Connect the male end to the mic's output and the female end will connect to extend the length of the cable connected to the F2's locking input.

Q: 4. The Boundary Microphone: I have a delightful number of Shure MX 391/O Boundary Microphones. If I use an adaptor, would I be able to use that microphone with the Zoom F2?

A: If you used an adapter that provided phantom power yes. The Zoom will not provide the power needed for you mics.

Q: 5. Can it work with a Sanken COS-11D lav mic?

A: No, the Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Microphone is not compatible for use with the Zoom F2 Field Recorder. The mic requires 3 to 10V of plug-in power and the recorder can only supply 2.5V.

Q: 6. Could the headphone or line output somehow feed a mirrorless camera or would the camera's mic be a better reference track? Too bad there are no camera recording 32bit.

A: If you were to being using this recorder close enough to the camera that you could run an extension cable coupled with an attenuator cable, then yes, you could connect the headphone out to the camera. However, since this was designed with the intention of allowing mobility while recording, we'd suggest using a separate dslr mic on camera for quality scratch audio, such as this B&H # ROVMPR.

Q: 7. Can you have 2 mics recording at once with this device for an interview?

A: No. This will ony allow recording form one microphone.

Q: 8. Can this record stereo if using an adapter for the mic input?

A: The F2 does record audio on two channels. When using the included microphone (which has a single mic element and a 3.5mm TRS locking connector) the audio recorded is dual mono, so it is the same audio on both the left and right channels. An actual stereo microphone uses two individual elements to deliver different audio on the left and right channels. Using an adapter for the mic input of the F2 may not provide actual stereo separation. Please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you would like further assistance.

Q: 9. Anyone using this device for documentary production? What are the best recording gain and volume for this device for interviews and following characters in a documentary? I just tried testing Ch1 with a Sennheiser wireless lav,ME2, and the gain was set to Medium in the Tascam DR-70D, the volume knobs set in the middle and the I was watching the triangle in the LCD to stay up to that volume level. I took the recorded audio to Premiere and the audio waveform is kind of low. What happens if the volume in the triangle gets pass this and the knobs are higher? And what happens if the Gain is set to High instead? Would I get audio noise of any kind? Thank you for your answers!

A: The triangle you mentioned is the -18dB mark, the next mark is the -6dB. So make sure your recordings are between here. The next mark is -3dB you don't want to go beyond it. But in case if the sound goes beyond -3dB slightly it can still be recovered. At the bottom left corner, you can see the dB readings as the meter bars move.

Q: 10. I'd love to use this as a backup for a system that's already working well. I assume you'd have to use this upstream of any other device to capture guaranteed non-clipped audio?

A: The F2 is capable of 32-bit float recording which allows you to capture intensely loud signals without overloading the A/D converters and bring in extremely quiet sounds without overwhelming noise, all without requiring any gain adjustment before or during the recording process. Audio levels in a 32-bit float WAV file can be adjusted up or down after recording using most major DAW software and without adding noise or distortion. This technology is a game changer.
