Patterns, or gobos, are widely used by designers in theatre, film, photography and television to create atmosphere, project scenery, and generally enhance the visual impact of their lighting.

Conceived by some of the world's leading lighting designers, the Rosco range presently includes hundreds of standard steel gobo designs.

To insure design integrity the patterns are etched using a precise double-sided process on stainless steel. The result is durable, high quality patterns which will withstand the extreme heat at the gate of ellipsoidal spotlights.

Rosco steel gobos are round to allow for rotation in the gate when aligning the projected image.

The standard "B" size is suitable for most fixtures with a 6" lens when used with a Rosco Pattern Holder or the holders of other manufacturers.

Trimming of patterns, where necessary, can be easily accomplished with a pair of scissors.

Q: 1. I'm curious of any recommendations for a tripod that can be used both for photography purposes, but also have the ability to mount a motorized astrophotography tracking head to it at a later time? Id rather splurge on the tripod, being I'd use it for both. Id like it to be backwards compatible with either / or, multiple types of head options (basically be as future proof as it could be). Any advice would be really appreciated! Budget, midrange, and top of the line suggestions would be awesome! Id end up buying a higher end ($1000-ish) tracking head. Willing to hear what else you all suggest! Thanks

Q: 2. RRS BH55 can the locking lever be adjusted in any way to suit other QR plates, on the stem of the lever seems to have threads ?

A: As far as we are aware, RRS heads and clamps only accept arca-swiss style plates. Any modification (whether possible or not) to these devices is therefore at your own risk.

A: This is a very stable ball head there is no sag

Q: 4. Will this head fit on a Gitzo traveler 2 tripod and allow the tripod the fold up .?

A: No, this head is much wider than the Gitzo traveller head and will prevent it from folding up as small.

Q: 5. Is this the new version of the BH-55? RRS now as of a couple weeks ago has a newer version with different locking knobs and the pictures here show the old one.

A: Yes it does. I have seen and had hands on the old version. The new version, the right locking knob is somewhat elliptical and much more ergonomic. I like the new upper knob on the right much better.Steve

Q: 6. Is the head works with Manfroto tripods ?

A: I purchased this RRS ball head and placed it on my Manfrotto tripod and it works beautifully. It's extremely strong, you won't have any problems as long as you are using one of the better Manfrotto tripods.
