The Tiffen 4.5" Ultra Contrast 1/8 Filter can be applied to purposely reduce contrast while photographing an image or while recording video. By distributing ambient illumination to darker areas within a scene, this filter is useful in helping to uniformly balance the tonal range among highlights and shadows. Detail is increased within shadow regions while flare and halation around highlights is purposely limited.

This filter has a grade of 1/8. Grades of 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Any recommendations for a case with a shoulder strap, to hold only this lens?

A: I would recommend the Ruggard lens case. Please click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2vJvinI

Q: 2. what's the 35mm equivalent of this lens with the 1.4X and 2.0X TC? Thank you

A: It would be the equivalent of 212-852mm and 304-1218mm.

Q: 3. Will this bag fit a Nikon Z 24-200mm lens?

A: Yes, the Ruggard Lens Case 6 x 4.5" can accommodate the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR Lens (B&H # NIZ24200).

Q: 4. Hi, can this product loop-through 1080p 50 video stream from hdmi input to sdi output? or it is only pass through by sdi i/oThanks

A: I'm afraid not. The SDI output is a loop-out from the SDI input only. It will not cross convert the HDMI input.

Q: 5. While using the lens in video mode, does the exposure flicker during a zoom in or out?

A: FUJIFILM XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens have variable apertures. If you would be using the lens minimun aperture it will increase and decrease automatically from f/4.5-5.6 or f/9-11 if you would be attaching the Fujifilm 2x Teleconverter. If you select a higher aperture the f-stop won't fluctuate.

Q: 6. Can this lens be hand held w/the Fujifilm Xt-5?

A: The lens does have stabilization and the xt5 has stabilization as well. The lens alone weighs 3lbs. That said if using a fast shutter and bracing you should be able to get great results even hand holding yes.

Q: 7. Is the junior receiver (Female) directly above the mounting pin, or is it offset like the avenger and kupo 4.5 grip heads?

A: It is offset so the gobo will work properly. I like to use two stacked on top of each other. One to hold a silk and the other a negative for OTFs in full sun.

Q: 8. Is their a difference of image quality between using the 1.4 extender or the 2x extender.? Also how much light loss in each extender?

A: Using the 1.4x teleconverter with this lens would reduce the maximum aperture by nearly 1 1/2 stops. With the 2x teleconverter, you would lose 2 stops. The image quality would be better on the 1.4x teleconverter as you would lose less light.

Q: 9. Does this lens have a 'focus lock' button, or should I use "back button focus' instead ?

A: There is a lock switch which will prevent lens creep but the lens does not offer a focus a button.

Q: 10. Is lens be well balanced with an XT-4 camera? Can you achieve hand-held shots with the XT-4 or is a tripod needed/better?

A: The FUJIFILM XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens is about 3.03 lbs. while the Fugifilm X-t4 is about 1.16 lbs. so they aren't balanced in that regard. In terms of of whether or not you need a tripod is completely dependent on your capability but overall, you do not necessarily need a tripod and it can be used 100% handheld.
