Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there anyway to develop films at home nowadays ? Scan the results directly through a small film scanner or something? Or it has to be developed by professional lap

A: You can do it self. C-41 1 liter developer kit $25-$30. you can do up to 7 rolls 35mm/36exp. film. Just add 30 sec for each roll after 4th roll.

Q: 2. I'm planning to visit the grand canyon which film will be better portra 400 or 800?

A: if any of the two: portra 400. You will need dynamic range in Grand Canyon , which the 400 is better and 800 is to fast anyway. I would use Ektar 100 there.

Q: 3. Hey there, and thanks for the replies to my previous questions, but I'm still a little confused. So once I've finished shooting the whole role of film does it still require a chemical bath OR does it just need to be scanned for the final full color result? thanks...

A: You need to process this film in a lab. It is processed in E-6 chemistry.

Q: 4. Is this the same film compared to this one? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/27719-USA/Kodak_GC_135_36_Gold_Max.html

A: Yes both are GC/UltraMax 400 ISO Color Negative film 35mm and 36 exposures. It looks like they may have changed the packaging design and given it a new SKU.

Q: 5. What are the differences between this, the Retro 400s, vs the RPX 400?

A: The main difference is, Rollei Retro 400S Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is more sensitive to Infrared light. But in most uses you will not see the difference.

Q: 6. When does the expiry date expire?

A: As of today's date (1/14/20) the expiration date is 10/20/22.

Q: 7. Do you know expiry date of this film?

A: The expiration date will vary with the batches of film.

Q: 8. Does it work well to be pushed and or pulled? If so how many steps?

A: I would not pull this film, rather take the cheaper 400 then. For push, I was not really happy with the results. But maybe my pushing was not done well from the lab.

Q: 9. Can you compare this to Adox CMS 20?

A: Lomography Fantome Kino 8 Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) has an ISO of 8 and is a contrasty film. It can be developed in standard B&W chemistry. In contrast, Adox CMS 20 II Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) has an ISO of 20 but is also ultra-fine grain. This film has a better dynamic range than Lomography Fantome Kino 8 Black and White Negative Film. This film is not meant for standard process developers, and ADOTECH IV is the recommended developer.

Q: 10. I'm looking to shoot this film for a concert would you recommend this for lowlight situations?

A: Honestly no. P800 is very light hungry. I would try P400 rated at 1250 then push 2 in development.
