Patterns, or gobos, are widely used by designers in theatre, film, photography and television to create atmosphere, project scenery, and generally enhance the visual impact of their lighting.

Conceived by some of the world's leading lighting designers, the Rosco range presently includes hundreds of standard steel gobo designs.

To insure design integrity the patterns are etched using a precise double-sided process on stainless steel. The result is durable, high quality patterns which will withstand the extreme heat at the gate of ellipsoidal spotlights.

Trimming of patterns, where necessary, can be easily accomplished with a pair of scissors.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What release plate to purchase for Mark IV to go along with this ball head.

A: I would get the RRS B5DMKIV arca-type base plate or the RRS L Bracket.

Q: 2. Will this head fit on a Gitzo traveler 2 tripod and allow the tripod the fold up .?

A: No, this head is much wider than the Gitzo traveller head and will prevent it from folding up as small.

Q: 3. What would be the rationale for purchasing screw knob versus lever release clamp?

A: Both are equally competent at holding the camera in the clamp, and for both lever clamps I own neither has ever slipped. It is possible that the lever could be accidentally hooked on something and it could open without intending to, though it's never happened to me and I've hiked with tripod and camera over my shoulder a number of times. The screw knob would be the most positive and of the two if a person was really worried about accidental opening. What I like best about the lever clamp is the speed of opening, which facilitates quick swap of the camera from portrait to landscape orientation (if you have an L-plate) and fast adjustments of the camera's position in the clamp when adjusting centering.

Q: 4. What is the mounting screw used for?

A: The mounting screw would be 3/8" female screw opening.

Q: 5. Is the head works with Manfroto tripods ?

A: I purchased this RRS ball head and placed it on my Manfrotto tripod and it works beautifully. It's extremely strong, you won't have any problems as long as you are using one of the better Manfrotto tripods.

Q: 6. will this fit on a mefoto tripod ?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball Head connects to 3/8 threads, which is standard for most tripod legs and systems so it should be compatible with Mefoto tripod legs.

Q: 7. My BH55 pan lock knob is stuck, and the base is unable to be locked into place. Is there a way to free the knob?

A: If it were me, I would get my water pump pliers, tape the jaws, use a cloth over the knob, and GENTLY move clockwise. That should do it. However, this action is at your own risk for it may not work and could possibly mar the finish as well as void the warranty. Therefore the official B&H response is please contact Really Right Stuff for service. Phone Toll Free: US & CANADA: 888-777-5557 Email: INFO@REALLYRIGHTSTUFF.CO

Q: 8. Does this Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball head pan 360 smoothly?

A: This is the ultimate ballhead in all respects. It is very smooth and rock steady. I believe RRS does make special panning attachments for video, but as I am not a video shooter I have no direct experience with that. Once you use RRS ballheads, plates and tripods, you will not use any others. Ever.

Q: 9. Will the BH work with Kirk L-Bracket?

A: Yes, this head will work with the Kirk L bracket.

Q: 10. How stable is it for very precise target alignment at maximum zoom with a large telephoto (e,g. 100-400)? I.e does it sag after tightening?

A: This is a very stable ball head there is no sag
