Designed to balance the overall exposure within a high-contrast scene, the 85 x 110mm Hard-Edge Graduated ND Filter from Formatt-Hitech is ideal for situations involving both bright and dark areas, such as an open sky and shadowed foreground. Half of the filter has 0.6 neutral density and the other half is clear, with a hard-edged transition between the two that is ideally suited for use with long focal length lenses or when there is a defined, uninterrupted horizon, such as a seascape. By reducing the exposure in selective areas, you are able to balance the overall exposure of the scene in order to gain detail in both bright and dark areas.

This filter is constructed from lightweight, durable optical resin, which is also designed to maintain image clarity and not affect the overall color balance of the scene. It measures 3.3 x 4.3" / 85 x 110 mm, is 1.5mm thick, and is suitable for use in 85mm filter holders.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the servo zoom speed on the 18-110 faster than the 28-135 lens which I own and find quite slow?

A: The Sony E PZ 18-110mm will not start shipping until February of 2017, so we are not able to answer such a question yet. However this lens is said to have an improved design over the FE PZ 28-135mm, so we believe it will allow for a faster zoom. We will need for the lens to be released for actual testing and comparison. Please keep an eye on this website for updates.

Q: 2. is this lens parafocal?

A: Yes, this lens is parfocal.

Q: 3. Do you have an alternate lens hood for this lens - that either clips on or can screw into the 95mm thread?

A: This is the Hood Sony E PZ 18-110mm f/4 G OSS hood lens. Sony ALC-SH148 Lens Hood BH #SOALCSH148. We have hood options like the following models that could work with the 95mm threads Link - https://bhpho.to/3SGhfoP . Also you could consider a 15mm Rod based Matte box solution. Q: 4. I am looking to push my Sony a6400 to its video limits (mini films, documentaries). Would this lens do that, or am I better off changing my gear all together?

A: yes this lens will work on all sony E mount cameras including the A6400

Q: 5. Does this lens vignette on a FF sensor across its focal range or just on the wider end?

A: Yes, the Sony E PZ 18-110mm f/4 G OSS Lens will vignette on a full-frame sensor and all focal lengths.

Q: 6. Would the OSS work in conjunction with the IBIS on the FX30?

A: Yes, the OSS of the Sony E PZ 18-110mm f/4 G OSS Lens and IBIS of the Sony FX30 Digital Cinema Camera will create a form of stabilization+ when combined.

Q: 7. How do I put a clip on mattebox on this lens? Seems it's not a 114mm diameter.

A: There is a groove that fits the end of the lens. Will not work with other lenses.

Q: 8. Does this lens have hard stops in manual focus mode?

A: The lens has yet to be released so the final answers regarding all focus features is not yet known. The lens is not mechanically parfocal and relies on the auto focus mechanism to maintain focus. This is from a Sony lens designer. Therefore it appears to be focus by wire and that the focus ring is telling the motor where to go and once you set the focus, the lens will maintain the focus electronically. Sony has addressed many cine issues such as breathing, parfocal focus, and axial shift all in a constant aperture lens with excellent zoom range for its intended camera for an excellent price. We shall see soon how this lens does.

Q: 9. Does this lens enable still picture functions in compatible Sony cameras to take pictures as well as video? Is the Multi Port functional on Sony cameras to control zoom functions on the lens?

A: Yes, this can be used for still images as well as video. You will be able to control the zoom through select camera's Multi-Terminal Input with the Sony RM-VPR1 Remote Commander with Multi-Terminal Cable, BH #SORMVPR1. https://bhpho.to/3acLFd3

Q: 10. Is this lens compatible with the Sony FS-700 camera?

A: As the Sony FS-700 accepts E mount lenses, you can use this lens with that camera.
