The 58mm #12 Yellow Filter from Tiffen is a filter designed to increase contrast and tonal separation for black and white photography. The filter absorbs blue colors, rendering blues darker. Haze is minimized for aerial photography and excessive blue is removed for astrophotography. The #12 Yellow Filter is recommended as a basic filter for use with Kodak's Aero Ektachrome Infrared Film. The filter has a filter factor of 2, so you must increase by 1 full stop to your exposure to compensate.

Tiffen filters are not dyed, but are manufactured by using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass and grinds down and polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted to the metal ring, which after that can be screwed onto the lens for the desired effect.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi. I would like to know if it is possible to control the focus setting with the Crane Plus setter mounted on panasonic gh5s. Thank you

A: The Crane Plus does not offer a way to control Focus, that is not a feature it has. However you should still be able to use a Panasonic Mirrorless Camera with this lens. It will be within the 5.5 Pound Load capacity of B&H # ZHCRANEPLUS.

Q: 2. Is this lens internal focus?

A: Yes, this lens will internally focus.

Q: 3. Will the ios on this lens will work with lumix GX8?. Thanks

A: Yes it will it was built to work with this camera and works well I have the combo and it my grab and go set up.

Q: 4. Are the optics of this lens going to be on par with the 12-35mm 2.8 previous gen? That is an amazing lens, but the zoom on this thing is tempting cause 35mm isn't enough.

A: I have both lenses, and the new lens is a bit better. It's equally sharp, with better color rendition and does not cause sun flare to become green and purple blobs.

Q: 5. How is the focusing ? with a ring with infinity ?

A: There is a focus ring on the lens but it is focus-by-wire and not mechanically linked. So, no, there are no stops at infinity and at the closest focusing distance. The ring turns very smoothly and focus is achieved quickly and easily. This is a hefty and extremely well built lens.

Q: 6. The specs its not indicate if it has constant 2.8 aperture throughout the focal length?

A: It does not have constant 2.8 aperture; the range is 2.8 - 4 and changes gradually as you zoom from 12 to 60 mm. It will maintain constant aperture if you set it to 4 or higher to begin with.

Q: 7. is this 12-60mm truly parfocal lens?I just saw a review that showed it was, but have not yet seen anyone else speak of this or prove also.

A: I am an amateur at best, but, from my understanding of a parfocal lens, I would say yes; it maintains crisp focus while moving from 12 to 60mm with or without the autofocus switched on.

Q: 8. Is the zoom ring linear or does it accelerate when used with a GH6? I have a pair of Panasonic Leica lenses with sliding zooms.

A: The focus ring on the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-35mm f/2.8 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens is not linear. It uses a focus-by-wire system, where the speed of the focus adjustments depends on how quickly you turn the ring. So it's acceleration, the faster you turn the ring, the more the focus changes.

Q: 9. This claims to have "micro step aperture control." How do you activate it with a Panasonic Lumix G9 II?

A: The Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-35mm f/2.8 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens (Micro Four Thirds) Micro Step Aperture Control is always available when changing the aperture priority while recording motion pictures. -M.

Q: 10. Bit confused, is this is an APS-C lens? If so, what is the equivalent on a full frame camera? (Lumix S5) Thanks !

A: The Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-35mm f/2.8 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens is a Micro Four Thirds mount lens, which is designed for a smaller sensor than APS-C. The full frame equivalent for Micro Four Thirds is 2x; so the 12-35mm lens will be a 24-70mm full frame equivalent. If you do have an APS-C camera, this lens would not be a viable option.
