For those that want the ultimate in observing capacities at magnifications suitable for serious birding or even comet hunting, Kowa offers the flagship powerhouse binoculars known as the High Landers.

As great as the premium European and Japanese models of spotting binoculars have become, they are still perennially limited by the fact that they only let you observe with one eye instead of two. You've got two eyes, and this is of course the most comfortable way to observe anything at a high magnification, providing dimensionality to the subject that cannot be duplicated with one eye.

Other benefits to the High Lander design include wider viewing angles for the given magnifications versus a spotting scope with similar magnification.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Nikon D610, what kind of adaptor I can use to attach it to Pentax PF-80ED-A? Thanks.

A: As I have a Pentax DSLR I bought the PF-CA35 which replaces the eyepiece and is Pentax k-mount direct to the camera body. I think you can then get a k-mount to Nikon ring and that might work, hope that helps some

Q: 2. Looking for recommendations for a fluid head tripod that would be a good match for the M2 100mm spotting scope? Will use scope for both terrestrial and extra-terrestrial viewing.

A: Will you be hiking with the scope and tripod?

Q: 3. Can the mounted scope rotate when attached to the tripod?

A: Yes, the scope can be rotated by loosening the pan/tilt tension knob at the top of the tripod. Then use the pan/tilt handle to locate the object and tighten the knob when it is found.

Q: 4. What is the outer diameter of the eyepiece?

A: The eyepiece is approximately 6.5" in diameter.

Q: 5. Can you add a 2x Barlow lens on this scope?

A: Yes you could as long as it's 1.25 . However you might get some distortion and darkness. I wouldn't recommend using one. Honestly.

Q: 6. Can this scope be used comfortably on a monopod?

A: The Celestron Regal M2 100ED Spotting Scope with 22-67x Eyepiece (Angled Viewing) will work with any monopod/tripod. The image may be a bit shaky as a monopod is not completely steady but it can be done.

Q: 7. Will this scope mount to an Arca Swiss type clamp?

A: Yes as long as the threading is 1/4"-20.

Q: 8. Is the front threaded for a filter? What mm size if it is ? Thanks

A: No, the front objective housing is not threaded for a filter.

Q: 9. is the selestron landscout 12-36 good for space observation?

A: No, this is a spotting scope which is intended for shorter distances like 100-400 ft. You need a telescope.

Q: 10. Do you sell a solar filter that fits this spotting scope (for viewing the solar eclipse)?

A: Unfortunately we do not.
