There is no adhesive in direct contact with the mounted item's surface.This is ideal for use on a backing board where glass and/or matting will keep the artwork from falling out of the strip's thin rim of plastic. It wouldn't work for a large paper item which lacked a glass in front -- the paper's weight would pull it out of plastic edges, I suspect.
