Q: 1. Is there anyway I could just buy the clip for this tripod?

A: I would contact the manufacturer Smith-Victor corp. for the pro-pod II parts.It does appear to have a mechanism to remove the clip.

Q: 2. I use my tripod mostly for video. I'm looking to buy another because mine (a cheap one bought at that store that start with a 'W'... and ends in a 'T') pans so poorly. Does this one pan smoothly? Up and down. Side to side. And it looks like it has a crank handle that makes the head move up or down as the handle is crank. Is this correct? Thank you!

A: This tripod does a decent job panning and tilting, especially if you are on a tight budget. It works the best with small to medium sized camcorders (i.e. a Canon XA20). I've used these tripods for filming interview videos and conferences. It definitely does a better job than any cheaper tripods without fluid heads!

A: The base is fiber board and is not magnetic.

Q: 6. Is this head mostly made of metal? And also, could it hold a 10 pound gear in a steep angle without slippage?

A: It is very sturdy, mostly solid metal constructions. We have a Blackmagic Cinema camera with zoom lens (probably about 5lbs total) mounted on a 90 degree angle and it stays very consistent.

A: Contact Davis and Sanford directly (aka Tiffen). I own two D&S tripods, the Fusion and another one. On my other one, the quick release latch broke off and I searched high and low for a replacement. Didn't have any luck so I contacted Tiffen. They sent me a new latch no questions asked.
