Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit in an Explorer 5122?

A: No it will not. They are about the same size. My Pelican case has been everywhere. The desert, Mexico, the bahama's. Everywhere in Florida, Colorado, and Michigan; even in the winter. Also it has been on the go shooting weddings, Senior Pictures, child portraits, and every sporting even you can imagine shoot for the newspaper. Still working great! I would not hesitate to purchase it again. The wheels on the explorer are questionable. The Pelican had stood the test of time.

Q: 2. Does it come with a lock and key?

A: No but it has a place to use a normal padlock you would have to buy that separately

Q: 3. will a sony fs7 fit?

A: This would just barely fit your camera. It would be a super tight fit. I would recommend going with the Pelican 1564 Waterproof 1560 Case with Dividers instead. Website link: http://bhpho.to/1k6QtFb

Q: 4. Will a MindShift Gear BackLight 26L pack fit into a Pelican 1510?

A: Yes, with the foam inserts removed from the Pelican 1510, and depending upon what is packed into the MindShift Gear BackLight 26L backpack. Empty it should fit fine, full is not guaranteed.

Q: 5. What are the dimensions of this case? Ican't believe they don't tell you the dimensions of any of the cases.

A: The Exterior Dimensions are: 22 x 13.81 x 9.0 (55.88 x 35.07 x 22.86cm) (LxWxD), and the Interior Dimensions are: 19.75 x 11 x 7.6 (50.17 x 27.94 x 19.3cm) (LxWxD). We do have the Dimensions listed on our website under the Specs Section next to Overview. If you click on Specs it will display all the information on the product.

Q: 6. Will it fit a nikon 200-400 vr ii lens, a nikon 70-200 plus 2 portrait lens and nikon D600 + nikon D7100 with battery grips and a flash?

A: In my 1514 case, I currently have a Nikon 500mm F4P, which is just slightly longer than the 200-400 but a little narrower near the mount, with a D300 body on it. It's a tight fit lengthwise. Also in the case is a Nikon 80-400 with a teleconverter attached. That's perhaps slightly larger that the 70-200 2.8 (you didn't specify which one you have so I'll assume the larger/faster one). And finally I have a short zoom. There would likely be room for another camera body and one more short lens. I'm doubtful about the flash, however.

Q: 7. Will this case fit a Canon 500mm f/4 IS II lens? (I am worried about the diameter of the lens hood, which is 7 .)

A: Perhaps w/o the hood ...

Q: 8. Is the Pelican 1510 case waterproof?

A: Unfortunately even the manufacturer says its just watertight. I would have to agree with them because of the Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve. Now you can try Pelican's line of cases called Storm cases. These are waterproof and are used by the military but I don't know if there is any difference in prices for that benefit. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Q: 9. Would it be ok to have the camera and lenses checked in with this case for international travel?

A: As a general rule, check nothing of value. Ever. A locked Pelican screams open me and steal stuff . Check your clothes. Carry your gear. Take cool pictures.

Q: 10. Is the slide out handle long enough for a tall person? It's a pain hunching over while bulling a carry-on case. About the same as your run-of-the-mill roller bag? thx

A: Yes

I don't trust any other brand of case - Pelican's are absolutely top notch. The 1510s are the perfect size for packing tools and other small items.

My 2nd Case, and it works extremely well for my needs to transport gear as well as use as a carry on with gear for flights. Very durable. Gear is well protected.

The case is excellent quality, and the trekpak dividers are way above the standard velcro dividers. This a legal carry-on case with the airlines. I was able to fit a Canon 5DIII body, Canon 7DII body, Canon 200-400 lens, Canon 24-70 lens, Canon 70-200 lens, filters, extra batteries, battery charger, cleaning supplies, monopod, head and sd/flash cards.

Not much to say about Pelican cases but that they are the best. This one is just right for three camera bodies, and a bunch of lenses and kit.
Tough as nails, watertight, solid wheels, well worth the money if you travel with gear.

If one takes the time to figure out their best possible configuration, the possibilities are somewhat endless! I was able to fit 2-camera bodies-5D Mk3 & 7D with battery grips, 70-200mm f/2.8L II, 24-70mm f/4L, 50mm f/1.2L, 15mmm Sigma Fisheye lenses, 2-Canon 600RT Speedlites, 1-Powerex MH-C801D 8-Cell Charger, 2-Canon LC-E6 Chargers, 2-STORACELL 12 AA Pack Battery Caddys, Gary Fong Lightsphere Collapsible & AmberDome, Gepe Card Safe Extreme Watertight Case, Yongnuo YN-E3-RT II Wireless Speedlite Transmitter & a Tiffen 82mm Variable Neutral Density Filter with Step Up Rings to fit every lens I own/carry within this case! ...
I've actually re-arranged this arrangement a bit, to accomodate the transmitter, taken the 7D out & now carry the EOS R body in its place but everything listed above fits into this case!!! ... I absolutely love the size & what can be carried around in it!!! ...

Purchased 2 of the 1510 cases with Trekpak and lid inserts. Used my circular table saw, with a 12” 90 tooth fine kerf blade, to cut the foam panels so that the cut sizes are consistent and straight; took some time but the finished product came out better than expected. Pricy, but worth it! Could use another 2 or 3 ! :)

I work in the production industry and often take photos of the company I work in. it is so convenient after switching from a standard camera bag backpack to this Pelican. I know my gear is in a hard protected case, it's on wheels so I don't have to carry it everywhere and more than enough room for what I have.

(I Carry a Canon DSLR, 3 short lenses, a long lens, a Mavic Pro + Remote, several other accessories including cables, batteries, and chargers for all the above.)
