Ilford 12 x12" Multigrade Printing Filters are used for printing the Ilford Multigrade range of papers on black-and-white enlargers.  Ilford produces complete sets of filters for all contrast grades in half grade steps.

The twelve multigrade filters are in sets and are numbered 00-5 in .5 steps. The lowest number corresponds to the softest contrast.

Multigrade filters are supplied in 3, 6 and 12" square sizes to fit most enlarger's filter drawers, or as a set of mounted hard plastic filters for below-lens use in a filter holder.

Multigrade filters do not require any recalculation of exposure times when changing between grades 0 and 3, grades 4 to 5 simply requiring twice the exposure.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What f/stop does this lens have at 35mm?

A: The aperture number increases Linearly with the zoom. If I use A mode and set the initial aperture to f2.8 and turn the zoom up, the aperture will move to 2.9,3.0,3.1... 3.9, 4.0 to reach 60mm. The Panasonic rep said it is good for video. Some people have hoped that it will remain 2.8 until ... mm NO. Does not work that way.

Q: 2. Will this work with the Olympus ode m1 Mark ii and Mark iii?

A: Yes this bracket can potentially work with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II/Mark III.

Q: 3. is this 12-60mm truly parfocal lens?I just saw a review that showed it was, but have not yet seen anyone else speak of this or prove also.

A: I am an amateur at best, but, from my understanding of a parfocal lens, I would say yes; it maintains crisp focus while moving from 12 to 60mm with or without the autofocus switched on.

Q: 4. Will the ios on this lens will work with lumix GX8?. Thanks

A: Yes it will it was built to work with this camera and works well I have the combo and it my grab and go set up.

Q: 5. Can this lens works with any Micro Four Thirds System, such as new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K?

A: Yes, the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens should be compatible for use with the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Q: 6. how good is wifi connection on G85, picture sharing with iPhone specifically? I'm seeing bad ratings on appstore of Panasonic Image App

A: Its just a matter of linking the camera with the smart device and than its good

Q: 7. Are the optics of this lens going to be on par with the 12-35mm 2.8 previous gen? That is an amazing lens, but the zoom on this thing is tempting cause 35mm isn't enough.

A: I have both lenses, and the new lens is a bit better. It's equally sharp, with better color rendition and does not cause sun flare to become green and purple blobs.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with an Olympus PEN Lite E-PL7 camera?

A: Yes Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens is compatible with the Olympus PEN E-PL7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera

Q: 9. How does this compare to the a6500?

A: Both cameras are excellent image and video makers, having very good balanced spec s for both video and photo. The major differences are as follows: A6500 is a bigger camera, A6500 has a mic input, A6500 does 120 fps in 1080p, finally the a 6500 is a fast focusing camera. Some major differences between Sony mirrorless vs Panasonic are the sensor size; Sony has a APSC senor which is larger than Panasonics micro four thirds. Also Panasonic has a much larger lenses line up than Sony. Lastly with Panasonic you can pull a photo from the video with their 4K photo mode.

Q: 10. A consistent failing of similar designs (re-branded under countless names) is that 3-4cm of the outer edge is unable to be lit because the inward taper at the large end of the funnel is too aggressive (basically the inner reflector is nearly touching the diffusor). Is this design appreciably more bowl-shaped such that this would be alleviated?

A: I inserted wire into the seams to stiffen the 'funnel', but there remains some tapering light fall-off toward the edges, but I can't quantify in cm or f-stop.

I decided to try the Ilford developer mainly because of the time and nuisance of mixing the dry Kodak Dektol I used for decades. In addition, since Kodak printing papers are no longer made, I mainly rely on Ilford MGIV multi-contrast and also use their multi-contrast printing filters, so it made sense to move to their paper developer.
While I don't really notice any improvement in print quality, contrast, etc. that is actually a positive as this indicates that the overall print characteristics is visually no different than what I saw with Dektol. Therefore I believe I am getting equal results with a lot more convenience, for a bit more cost per print...which is worth it

Excellent product. The choice of two (2) dilutions gives excellent flexibility for fine art print making.
