The narrowband oxygen III filter yields high transmissivity through blocking unwanted longer wavelengths of light that aren't involved in your attempts to observe, giving higher contrast to your observing and photographic experiences. By isolating solely the two doubly-ionized oxygen lines(496 & 501nm lines) emitted by planetary and emission nebulae while blocking the rest of the overall spectrum of light, the result is extreme contrast between the black sky background and the faint photons of OIII light needed for detailed views of the Veil, Ring, Dumbbell, Crescent and Orion nebulae amongst other objects. Each filter has an ultra hard, vacuum-deposited coating carefully designed to block all of the visual spectrum ranging from 400-700nm, eliminating the unnatural colored halos surrounding bright stars common with less sophisticated O III filters.

Ordered this to use with a Vortex Media Pro SLR Storm Jacket Camera Cover. Not only did it work perfectly with the storm cover, it actually eases eye strain and allowed me to shoot with both eyes open with no problem. My only grip and it's small one, is that it blocks my view screen a little and it's in the way when I try to turn it. I have a flip out view screen (Canon 60D). I first saw a Hoodman eye piece on the Canon 1D of the professional photographer at the zoo, and at the time assumed it was standard on the higher end cameras. Haha. Now I wish I had researched it earlier! My original eyepiece has been falling off for years, and I finally lost it permanently. The Hoodman is comfortable, blocks all the light that comes from the side making it had to see, and very affordable! This is a must-have accessory. 5

Easy to install and use for a left hand/eyed person. Helps greatly when generally facing towards sun and trying to adjust polarizing filter. I recommend it. 5
