Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. It came with the US power lead. To use it in the UK do I need to get and 240v/120v voltage converter or just an UK power lead? T

A: Being that the Sirui HC-70 is multi-voltage, you would only need the Watson US Type-B to UK Type-G Plug Adapter, BH # WATAGUSAGB to use over the existing plug. https://bhpho.to/3IHLsli

Q: 2. On the 80L Ruggard, B&H # RUEDC80L Electronic Dry Cabinet, is the inside LED lighting always on or adjustable or just on when you open the cabinet? Thanks

A: You can adjust it yourself

Q: 3. What technology does this cabinet use? multi-porous molecular sieve desiccants or peltier cooler?

A: In the overview section of this page, they state a "TE Cooling" method is used. Thermoelectric (TE) cooler is a Peltier junction. Water vapor freezes to the face of the cooler, then, allowed to thaw. The condensed liquid is transported to the outside on a medium.

Q: 4. Is this a dual sectioned humidity control unit, meaning I can control the top and bottom sections independently?

A: The top and bottom of the Sirui HC-200 Electronic Humidity Control Cabinet cannot be controlled independently.

Q: 5. is the glass door shatter/theft-proof or is it just regular glass that can be easily smashed?

A: The glass on the Ruggard EDC-80L Electronic Dry Cabinet (80L, Black) though of high durable quality, is not theft-proof.

Q: 6. Can you change the temperature reading from Celsius to Fahrenheit?

A: According to Sirui, no, the temperature reading on their HC cabinets cannot be changed from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Q: 7. Can the shelves be removed to store 600mm f4 lens as these are 17" tall?

A: The shelves in the Sirui HC-200 Electronic Humidity Control Cabinet can be removed and adjusted to fit a lens that is 17 inches tall.

Q: 8. What's the voltage range? Can it be used from 110-240?

A: Mine is plugged into a standard 110V wall outlet.

Q: 9. Does it include warranty? How long?

A: This unit has Limited 5-Year Warranty.

Q: 10. Is there a better solution? General Comment - perhaps a better solution... I believe that consistent humidity and temperature levels are important, so here’s my suggestion: use a good dehumidifier(s) in your home (Eg, I use a newer model GE that is energy star rated), which does a great job of keeping the ambient humidity around 38%. This has lots of benefits, including reducing the strain of an HVAC system and keeping the system and duct work relatively moisture free. Then buy a good Gun Safe (AMSEC is a good brand, but there are many) with a dial lock (avoid electronic locks which can fail...). A good safe will have a power outlet inside which you can connect a dehumidifying rod to and keep a humidity gauge inside. A fire rated safe is also recommended; minimum of 60 minutes. Store all your most important valuables, including video gear, wills, passwords book, etc inside and sleep well at night. Gun safes are affordable and come in lots of sizes. You’ll want to pay a reputable firm to deliver and install the safe. I’ve also read that when taking video gear outside, if there’s a big difference in temperature/humidity, that placing the gear in a sealed bag to allow the gear to come to a matching temperature sans condensation is recommended. I’d love to read anyone’s thoughts or experiences along these lines...always looking for best practices. Cheers. Chad K.

A: While the solutions you list above may also work, unfortunately, we do not offer any of the other solutions, and the Ruggard Electronic Dry Cabinet (50L) would be an option we carry that would be compatible and would maintain the temperature/humidity control to the equipment inside the unit. It is true that moving from indoors to outdoors when there is a large difference in temperature/humidity can cause condensation to form on your equipment, and keeping the item in a sealed plastic bag while the inside/outside temperatures equalize would reduce the condensation occurrence on your equipment.
