The Tiffen 4 x 4" Black Diffusion/FX 1/4 Filter diffuses strong light entering the lens and produces a glowing effect. While the resulting image appears softer and ethereal, there is little loss of clarity or detail. This filter works by diffusing the light entering the lens with small aberrations; by spreading the light more evenly, a soft glow is created rather than the sharp, well-defined image when shooting without a filter. The 1/4 density provides less softening than the 1/2.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6mm.

Q: 5. Im using this lens on my inspire 2 (x5s) with balancing rings , my question is , if I was to add a filter to the lens do I install it on both balancing rings or remove one and add a filter in its place , last question what filter would you guys recommend thread size 37 mm , i got 3 so far but most of them are fat but weight same a regular filter . What would u guys do or recommend thx

A: I have that lens on an Inspire 1, which was an upgrade from a Phantom 4+, which was an upgrade from a 3DR Solo. The only filters I have used on any of the flying platforms have been ND, and then only to lower the capture speed. Frankly, I think you can live without it. You can get a kitchen scale and compare the weight of the filter and the balance rings. Close is good enough IMHO for balance.

Q: 6. I have a 72 mm circular polarizing filter and it won't screw onto this lens. It actually seems to be much too small. I thought this lens takes 72mm filters. What is going on?

A: The lens is 72mm and all my 72mm filters fit it including Polarizers. Your Polarizer must be marked incorrectly.
