Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set Dg For Nikon Lens

Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set Dg For Nikon Lens

The Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG contains three tubes of different length - 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm - which can be used individually or in any combination to obtain the desired magnification. Actual magnification effect changes with each specific lens.

This DG Extension tube set has upgraded "Gate-Array IC" circuitry to work better with digital SLR's and some of the digital SLR lenses, like the Nikon DX (e.g. 17-55mm, 10.5mm) digital-only lenses.

Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.

The extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By moving the lens farther away from the film or CCD sensor in the camera, the lens is forced to focus much closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus.

When using the camera's TTL metering system, no exposure compensation will be required (exposure compensation is required for handheld meters).

The Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG is compatible with Nikon DSLR cameras and F-mount lenses and is optimized to work with Autofocus lenses.

Kenko's Auto Focus extension tubes are designed with all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain auto focus and TTL auto exposure with most Nikon lenses given there is enough light (at f/5.6 or brighter) to activate the cameras AF system properly.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a way to use EF tubes with Canon R6, RF lens, and EF-RF adapter?

A: No, there is no way to use the Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG for Canon EOS Lenses with an RF lens on the R6 Mk II Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 2. What does the DG mean?

A: DG version is EF and EF-S compatible.

Q: 3. As pictures don't show it and answers don't mention it... does the BACK of these tubes (the part that goes to the camera) have a metal flange or is it all plastic? Thank you - lorenzo

A: The tube body is hard plastic, but the actual mount mechanism is metal. It is a good product for the price and I have not had any issues with durability or performance.

Q: 4. Do these tubes work on the Z9 with or without the adapter for Nikon F ?

A: These Extension Tubes will fit on the Nikon Z9 with the Nikon FTZ adapter. In terms of compatibility it would need to be tested since it was not designed fore this use.

Q: 5. Do they affect the image the same way as cropping the image in post processing? My macro lens has a minimal focal length 250mm, if I put on 7 of the 36mm tubes will it reduce my minimal focal length to 0?

A: No, extension tubes will maintain the resolution, unlike when you crop an image in post processing. 3 tubes will bring you to about 25mm close focus distance

Q: 6. Will this work with d3400 ? Thanks

A: My set of Kenko extension tubes works very well with my Nikon D3400. Depending on which lens I use, I sometimes prefer auto focusing and sometime prefer manual focusing.Have fun discovering which technique works best for you !

Q: 7. Are these tubes made of metal or plastic ? My thanks to you in advance.

A: The tube itself is plastic, but high quality. The coupling surface, the surface that comes in contact with your camera and lense, is metal. The complete set appears to be of very high quality and if you need extension tubes, I can recommend this set.

Q: 8. Has anyone used these extension tubes with Nikon 300 mm f 4 or 600 mm f4 VR lenses?

A: Most use extension tubes with shorter lenses. Usually lenses around 100mm or so at the most. One issue is that the focus will be critical in general and very difficult to focus with such long focal length lenses.

Q: 9. Will these work with my Nikon D60?

A: Yes, this extenstion tube set is compatible with the Nikon D60 camera.

Q: 10. Will this work with Nikon D3300?

A: Yes, they are compatible with the D3300.

A fun addition to a macro lens! Enables you to get even closer to the subject and see tiny details.

I love these extension tubes. I use them with non-macro lenses and a dedicated macro. It is great to have the flexibility of three different focal length extenders, and I play around with different combinations to get the the right composition and focal distance.

These tubes have allowed me to play with macro and have been a lot of fun. I've gotten some great shots out of them, with all three on, i can pretty much touch my (stationary/not alive) subjects. Photographs are gorgeous, thou lacking just a smite in sharpness. Very fun for what they are!

This is more like it! A cheap and cheerful addition to my lens collection. Yes it's made from plastic and weighs as much as a postage stamp, but it's the photos that count. It's perfect for portraits giving you a lovely blurred background with the right aperature setting. It works great for Macro photography when used with Kenko extension tubes. No real cons to speak of...get it!! I bought this item in the New York store. ...

These tubes are sooo great, especially for the price! As opposed to buying an expensive ($500+) macro for that short amount of time I use it, I got this set for under $200! It is great for what I use it for, ring pictures for weddings/engagements and definitely worth every cent! So glad I looked into this before committing to a macro.

Used for varying distances of natural macro. It's a lot cheaper than a dedicated macro lens. Can't think of anything bad about the product.

I have just begun to use these and find they really bring my close up shot to a new level. I like the fact that work with the Auto feature of my Nikon D80. So far I have not found any thing tht isn't so great about the tubes. Maybe they could come with a case to carry them in. As I have extra cases this is not a problem

I'm quite pleased with the Kenko extension tubes. They include a spring loaded coupling shaft between the camera and lens needed by my 28-200 AF-D lens (the AF motor is in the camera instead of the lens). As others have noted, the AF feature hunts some but does work. I need to switch to single point AF or manually focus if I'm using the 36mm extension and the long zoom range of the lens. Tubes also work with my Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4 manual lens. The spring loaded electronic contacts seem more harsh than those on my Nikon lens, probably because they are longer and less rounded, but they don't seem to be causing any undue wear on my D700 camera. The spring tension appears about the same as those on the lens. I didn't find any EXIF data indicating the presence of the tubes but didn't really expect to. The focal length fed through unaltered from the zoom lens. Nikon D700 Nikon AF Nikkor 28-200mm 1:3.5-5.6D Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4 AI-s manual focus
