The Schoeps MK2HV is part of the Colette series of modular capsules designed for use with the CMC preamplifiers. A favorite for recording classical performances, the capsule is designed primarily for ambiance capturing at a greater distance from the sound source. The capsule features an omni-directional pick up pattern which provides a generous response area at the main and off-axis sections of the capsule. The wide linear frequency response accurately reproduces audio signal in rich detail.

With it's omni-directional pattern and exceptional signal response, the MK2H is a favorite choice among engineers for capturing classical performances.

The omni-directional polar pattern provides a generous pick up response at the off and on-axis sections of the capsule.

The wide frequency response ensures accurate detail regardless of the source signal.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it better to use Lithium Ion or Alkaline batteries for this use?

A: Tascam recommends using standard alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries for the DR-70D. Lithium ion batteries are not recommended.

Q: 2. Is the SanDisk 128GB Class 10 ExtremePRO SDXC Memory Card, U3, 95MB/s Read Speed a good option for the Tascam DR-70D? What is the optimum read speed in a SD card for this device? What is the SD card perfect match for the 70-D?

A: Speed Class indicate minimum writing performance. This is important mainly for camcorders, video recorders and other devices with video recording capabilities. Even a Class 4 card is sufficient for handling audio recording tasks. Tascam has officially tested Class 6 cards which function properly with this recorder.

Q: 3. What's the best setting for DB levels on the line out to A7siii camera. If I set the tascam to +12 then it looks like camera can be at a volume setting of 3. Since the camera preamps are probably worse than the Tascam wouldn't this be best. I read elsewhere to set the Tascam so the camera ends up @ 8. What do you guys think?

A: We recommend using a level matching cable to pad the line level output signal from the Tascam DR-70D so it will provide a compatible signal level that will not overload the camera's mic input. The Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N Line to Microphone Attenuation Cable for HDSLR Cameras (B&H # SEL2MZH4N) will provide a -25 dB pad for the 70D's line level output and the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (B&H # KOACH425MON) works in the same way and also includes a headphone tap.

Q: 4. This DR-70D has a dual record function, which allows you to record a 2nd track at a quieter volume of the same input channel. Does this work when recording all 4 inputs? Is it able to record all 4 inputs separately and at the same time, record them at a lower level? It would actually be recording 8 separate audio files then.

A: Robin M gave the correct answer.Unit details available here:a href= http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/overview/ target= _blank http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/overview//aThank you for your interest in TASCAM products.

Q: 5. Hello, the audio recorder seems to be separating each track into a different file, is there a way to avoid this while recording or do it in post? Thanks

A: Hi Carlos- If you're only recording mono, i.e. one single mic, just turn off any channels you don't want to record. Likewise for stereo recording; just turn off any channel(s) without input. (Menu/Basic/Record...) Otherwise, these devices by default record individual files for every track- this is the typical workaround for the limitations with recording audio on DSLR cameras. When I edit with multiple files like this (e.g.: a-Sound on one channel-Nat sound on another), I generally do a sub-edit in one sequence, and copy/paste those edited clips into the master edit. You could also sync the video and related audio channels in one sequence, then export the whole thing as a self-contained file with whatever audio config you want (1ch stereo, 2 monos, etc.). When you bring that clip back into your project, it would then have the audio embedded with the video. Hope that helps...

Q: 6. Am I able to set the 70D to show the levels for monitoring? That may be a killer if I'm not able to know my db range when I'm field recording or peaking.

A: Hi! Really the producto is ok, but I cant undestand how its work with 4 imputs microfone. always whit 2 microphones is ok, but with 4 its dificcult for me found the solution. For the future is posible chat in spanish?

Q: 7. How many minutes of audio can be recorded on a 32 GB SDHC card?

A: All durations are calculated for 4GB SDHC card:WAV/BWF: 16-bit (stereo): 44.1kHz: 6:44:00WAV/BWF: 24-bit (stereo): 96kHz: 2:04:00Multiply the durations by a factor of 8 for a 32 GB SDHC card.

Q: 8. Can anyone explain this to me please?Frequency response20-20kHz +0.5/-2dB(LINE IN or MIC IN to LINE OUT, Fs44.1k/48k Hz, JEITA)20-40kHz +0.5/-3dB(LINE IN or MIC IN to LINE OUT, Fs96kHz, JEITA)

A: The frequency responses listed are based on different sampling rates with different measurement variables to offer the most honest ratings.

Q: 9. How do I input the stereo mini plug (3.5mm) from a Rode Video mic or similar . I actually only want to use it as a mono source. Do I need a mini to XLR adapter?

A: If you wish to connect to a source with an XLR input than yes you will need an adapter. Otherwise you can plug into the standard 3.5mm jack with the included wire and choose to only use one channel.

Q: 10. Can this be used as a multi-USB mixer on a Mac with Adobe Audition?

A: I don't know I haven't used it with a Mac but I think you can.
