The Whirlwind Mix-6 is a single rack space, professional audio mixer designed for live sound reinforcement, broadcast and any application that requires a high quality audio mic/line mixer. The Mix-6 features a total of 6 inputs. Input channels 1 through 4 feature XLR and 1/4" phone inputs that are mic and line level switchable. Stereo Auxiliary inputs feature L/R RCA phono and 1/4" phone connections for a total of 6 inputs.
The Mix-6 features a switchable stereo peak limiter, ideal for controlling noise due to signal over load in broadcast and live sound applications. The front panel features rotary level and pan controls for each channel. All channels feature low-cut filter switches for reducing low frequency noise. The output section features balanced L/R XLR connections and 48V phantom power is available on all 4 microphone inputs. The Mix-6 performs at a level of quality expected of larger studio consoles while remaining in a convenient single rack space enclosure.

The Mix-6 features 4 input channels with 1/4" and XLR inputs. The Auxiliary input features stereo 1/4" phone and RCA phono input connectors.
XLR inputs on channels 1 through 4 are microphone and line level switchable.
An internal peak limiter controls dynamics and eliminates noise and distortion caused by excessive levels.
Low-cut filter switches are located on each channel and eliminate hum and noise at low frequencies.
In addition to rotary level controls, the pan dials provide control over audio placement within the left / right stereo field.
The Mix-6 features a switchable internal power supply capable of 115 or 230VAC operation.
48V phantom power is available on all microphone inputs.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this have a built in metronome? can you quantize the audio as well to tighten up the tracks?
A: Yes to the metronome. The Livetrak records audio, not MIDI data, so you cannot quantize an audio waveform (that I know of) The unit is simply amazing and I use it to record podcasts on location as well as recording bands. The trick is to make sure your input levels are steady at 3/4 of the meter (VUFS) and do the final mixing in your DAW.
Q: 2. Can you select individual lines to get phantom power so you can use dynamic and condenser mics at the same time?
A: Phantom power is either, all on or all off, to all channels.
Q: 3. When using ZOOM L-8 as an audio interface: can I record (in my computer) each input as a separate channel?
A: Yes. Each channel shows up in your audio software as inputs for a total of 12 (1-6 Mono, 7-8 Stereo, 9-10 Stereo & Main Mix). It also has 4 USB outputs for playback. I use mine with Logic Pro X to track instruments & vocals on the go since the board is USB bus powered.. NOTE: You will have to download drivers for Windows and MacOS.
Q: 4. Does this have a built-in per-line limiter or compressor?
A: That is a mistake on Zoom's part. 4 Mic Inputs, each with dedicated compression, would have been preferable the 6 without, at this price point. Any time a human voice (speaking or singing) gets in front of a microphone, it's a good idea to have a dynamics "babysitter" in the signal path.
Q: 5. Does it have Bluetooth connectivity?
A: There is no Bluetooth connectivity on this unit, but if you are looking to connect a smartphone for call-in's, you can do so with the included 3.5mm TRRS cable. Simply connect this cable from your smartphone into the 3.5mm channel 7/8 input, and the Zoom LiveTrak L8 will put the caller in the mix and create a mix-minus back to the caller.
Q: 6. Can the L20 be powered using a V-mount battery (nom 14.4 VDC). What is the acceptable supply voltage range?
A: The Zoom LiveTrak L-20 comes with a Power Adapter, it is not compatible with battery power.
Q: 7. Does this have the same incompatibility issue with AMD processors as the L-12?
A: As stated in the specifications section of the L-12 page on our website, operation is not guaranteed with CPUs from Atom, Celeron or Pentium series or CPUs made by AMD.
Q: 8. Can you record isolated tracks on the SD card? Or only via USB on your computer?
A: You can record the isolated tracks directly to an SD card, to a computer, or both simultaneously.
Q: 9. Using this as an audio interface with StreamYard and Skype... guests hear an echo on theor end, but don't hear one from me. I don't hear the echo live, but do in recording. Any ideas? Using a MacBook Pro. Mic plugged into Input 1. Computer plugged into Input 7 (USB 1-2).
A: You will not be able to easily configure a mix minus to send via USB.
Q: 10. Can you record to both the SD Card and the computer at the same time?
A: You can record to SD card and out to record on to a computer at the same time with this product.
