The beige B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with 3.5mm Non-Locking Connector for Azden Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a water-resistant, miniature lavalier microphone for capturing high-quality audio. It can be used in a variety of applications such as a tie-clip lavalier in interviews, a hair-hidden mic for drama, a water-resistant mic for water sports and hurricane reporting, or simply a small mic to hide in a prop flower vase.
The capsule is resistant to moisture, which allows for placement in the hair or on bare skin, and its omnidirectional polar pattern minimizes handling noise, wind noise, and plosives (popping). Furthermore, a variety of skin-matching colors are available. The B3's cable terminates to a 3.5mm non-locking connector for direct connection to an Azden WM-PRO, WLT-PRO, 32BT, WM22, or 31LT wireless bodypack transmitter. Additionally, a carrying case, two cable clips, a windscreen, and three protective caps are also included.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B3 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.
The B3 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps, and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.
The B3 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 150 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B3 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.
Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.
Standard, for most uses.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Can this be mounted from underneath? Obviously the screw-in tap will attach it to the bottom of a DSLR, but can the 70D be mounted onto the top of something else?
A: You can mount the 70D on the bottom of a DSLR with mounting screw. The unit also has a mounting screw underneath, so you can mount ontop of camera, tripod, etc.
Q: 2. how does it record in dual mode? does this have 2S Sd card slots?
A: The dual recording mode allows you to simultaneously record two files at different input levels. One is the standard recording level and the other is recorded at a lower level as a safety track. The two recorded files are saved individually on the same SD card. The DR-70D has only one SD card slot. You can see more details about setting up dual recording mode on page 25 in the reference manual: http://tascam.com/content/downloads/products/867/e_dr-70d_rm_vb.pdf
Q: 3. Power cable besides batteries?
A: An AC power adapter/cable is not included. The included USB cable may be used with this optional adapter that is available at an additional cost:The PS-P515U AC to USB Power Adapter from Tascam is a convenient adapter that allows you to power a USB device from an AC power outlet. It is ideal for portable audio recorders, allowing you to run them for hours without worrying about battery life.
Q: 4. can i use it for audior recording purpose?
A: Yes.The unit's features and functions are explained here:a href= http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/ target= _blank http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d//aAn Owner's Manual is available on the DOWNLOADS tab.Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.
Q: 5. Setting up the input gain on my recently purchased TAscam DR-70D.If I want to use the built in mics do I set input gain to line or mic?
A: You set the input to MIC for 3 / 4 and then have and option of low high or high+ for the gain.I find that high works for most situations rather well. High+ is pretty hot -
Q: 6. can you monitor each channel input separated? like in the dr60
A: One online YouTube reviewer says this is not possible. I have not independently verified. This might change depending on firmware, although the capability would not be very useful if the feature cannot be utilized on the fly during recording, not simply presented by menu choices.
Q: 7. Would this recorder be good with a parabolic collector dish and microphone?
A: Isaiah H,We would agree with Catalin R's response.Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.
Q: 8. When mounted to a DSLR, does the DR-70D pick up noise from handling/moving the camera?
A: There is no handling noise transferred to the DR-70D in normal operation. If the internal mics are active, then the possibility may exist.
Q: 9. Anyone using this device for documentary production? What are the best recording gain and volume for this device for interviews and following characters in a documentary? I just tried testing Ch1 with a Sennheiser wireless lav,ME2, and the gain was set to Medium in the Tascam DR-70D, the volume knobs set in the middle and the I was watching the triangle in the LCD to stay up to that volume level. I took the recorded audio to Premiere and the audio waveform is kind of low. What happens if the volume in the triangle gets pass this and the knobs are higher? And what happens if the Gain is set to High instead? Would I get audio noise of any kind? Thank you for your answers!
A: The triangle you mentioned is the -18dB mark, the next mark is the -6dB. So make sure your recordings are between here. The next mark is -3dB you don't want to go beyond it. But in case if the sound goes beyond -3dB slightly it can still be recovered. At the bottom left corner, you can see the dB readings as the meter bars move.
Q: 10. Has anyone had any audio sync issues when you take the audio files back into a editing program like Final Cut Pro or Adobe? I have had issues with past Tascam audio files. The audio would seem to go out of sync from the video by several frames after about 45 min or so. I with that had a timecode input.
A: When dealing with audio and video files of this length and not syncing to code, drift is inevitable. Both devices are recording files using their internal clock sources which will vary in accuracy. If you are only experiencing drift at the 45 minute mark, this is actually impressive. Unfortunately without the ability to lock to code or clock, you will not achieve perfect sync.
