The Countryman EMW Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone is designed to reproduce vocals, musical instruments, and ambient audio sources with pristine detail and minimal handling noise. The capsule is highly resistant to moisture, making it a suitable solution for outdoor use, placement against skin, etc.

Clear audio reproduction with low rubbing and handling noise is a result of the EMW's omnidirectional polar pattern. The flat frequency response is well suited for capturing instruments and general vocals in stage performances, trade shows, houses-of-worship, auctions, lectures, and much more.

A wide variety of colors and connectors are available for use with various wireless transmitters. This version is black and features a Switchcraft TA3F connector for use with AKG wireless transmitters.

The EMW lavalier microphone is available in three frequency response types. This version features a flat response for capturing vocals, various instruments, and ambiance.

The square EMW lavalier is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin, allowing you to select the version that is best suited for your application.

The attached cable is made of durable, break-resistant Kevlar for rigorous use without shorts or wear.

The EMW is credited with providing pristine audio with minimal handling and rubbing noise, due to its omnidirectional polar pattern.

This square, moisture-resistant capsule is ideal for use in humid conditions, on skin, outdoors, etc.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Zoom H1 with the shotgun mic have a belt clip or does that only come with the lav mic kit?

A: Only the LAV

Q: 2. Can the Zoom F1 USB sound output be used at the same time with internal recording?

A: This recorder may be used as a USB interface while recording to internal memory simultaneously.

Q: 3. Is the shotgun that comes with F1 is the same SGH-6 Shotgun capsule that zoom sells separately?

A: Yes, it is the same microphone.

Q: 4. I'm an amateur trying to get into some documentary filming, and I'm deciding between shelling out the money for the Zoom F1 (both the lavalier and shotgun) or just getting the Zoom H1 and mounting it on my G85 to function like a shotgun mic (and purchasing a lavalier separately). Does anyone have any thoughts on this, especially with regards to weight added to the camera/convenience and quality? The H1 is definitely cheaper and I think it might weigh less, but the F1 seems great too.

A: As the saying goes, the Force is strong in you. Your instincts about both systems is correct. I own both systems. In general, I try to avoid fixing anything to the camera. The protocol for docs (I have directed over a hundred) and sound systems is to run concurrent mics including camera audio. But your main audio rig should be separate from your camera system for many reasons. I bought the F1 mostly for back up since we employ a sound mixer to record tracks. I take the unit on my flight home to review the content. But, it has done well enough that we have used it for pick up interviews or supporting interviews. The lav provided is good. I ended up buying Sony lavs with separate battery (double A) power. You will want to ride any unit with a good pair of headphones. And just remember to hit the record and roll on sound after checking levels. It would be scary if there is no sound rolling.

Q: 5. Can I control the 2 channel audio tracks separately so I can put a tentacle sync on one channel and lapel mic on the other ??

A: I believe so but the screen only shows one channel not both

Q: 6. When using the MSH-6 Mid-Side capsule is it possible to record the mid and side mics separately?

A: With the Zoom F1 recorder, you would not be able to use the MSH-6 Mid-Side Capsule to record the mid and side mics separately because it has a mono capsule. The mics that do work with the F1 and allow mid and side separation are the XYH-5 (B&H # ZOXYH5), XH6 (B&H# ZOZXYH6), and SSH-6 (B&H# ZOZSSH6).

Q: 7. Are the belt loop arms on the back removable? Device seems bulky and it looks like those arms just add to the bulkiness.

A: No, the belt loop arms are not removable.

Q: 8. Is it possible to monitor audio with the headphone jack while using the lavalier microphone in an interview setup, where the subject is a few feet away from you? Or would the mic cord not be long enough?

A: The mic cord is about 5 feet long, so it seems possible but awkward. For greater flexibility in setting-up for various camera angles, I would attach the Zoom F1 Recorder to the interviewees waist by belt, etc., and use a 15-20 foot extension cord with 1/8th-inch male and female connectors on ends for extending the cord from your headphones for connecting to the headphone jack.

Q: 9. May I buy the LMF lav mic solely for spare?

A: I tried it with my Countryman B6 and was disappointed even at full gain on the recorder the volume was barely -12 to -6 db. My sennheiser ME 2-II Mic seems to do a little better on efficiency.

Q: 10. Has Zoom addressed the shoddy battery door debacle on the F1 in later iterations?

A: Zoom will send a new door as needed: Zoom (631) - 542-5270
