The Tiffen 127mm Black Diffusion/FX 5 Filter diffuses strong light entering the lens and produces a glowing effect. While the resulting image appears softer and ethereal, there is little loss of clarity or detail. This filter works by diffusing the light entering the lens with small aberrations; by spreading the light more evenly, a soft glow is created rather than the sharp, well-defined image when shooting without a filter. This filter has a 5 density, providing the greatest amount of softening.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come with a case?

A: A case is not included.

Q: 2. Would this scope work well for astrophotography? What else would I need to buy to make work with Sony E mount

A: You will need the Celestron SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter for All Refractor and Reflector Telescopes which Accept 1.25" Eyepieces - Requires Camera-Specific T-Mount Adapter BH #CETA1.25 • MFR #93625 to use in place of the eyepiece and the Vello T-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Adapter BH #VELANEXT • MFR #LA-NEX-T To mount on your camera body. Those (2) pieces will now screw together.

Q: 3. Will the focal point when connected to my Sony E-mount full frame camera be 1000 mm?

A: Since you will be attaching the camera through the eyepiece port it will not change the focal point.

Q: 4. Can you link this to a computer and see live images on your computer screen?

A: Yes. You would need a suitable camera, adapter and software obviously, but thats true for any telescope. A planetary camera such as ZWO will directly fit into the telescope eyepiece holder without any adapters required. A DSLR camera will need a T-adapter and mount ring for the camera make and model to fit in place of the eyepiece. If your DSLR has live view capability you can see the view without a computer. In either case you should be able to view the stream on a computer tethered via a USB cable or wirelessly if your camera supports WiFi. Im assuming you are running a compatible live view software for the camera on your computer.

Q: 5. Does a tripod come with this?

A: Yes. Tripod is part of the package.

A: Please contact our technical support team and a representative will be able to assist you in finding the right parts. The best way to reach them is by submitting a ticket here: https://www.celestron.com/pages/technical-support

Q: 7. My powerseeker eq does not have a latitude lock what can i do?

A: I would recommend getting in touch with Celestron directly with this inquiry. CelestronTel: 310-328-9560 or 310-803-5955 Website http://www.celestron.com/

Q: 8. Does this scope support the StarSense AutoAlign?

A: Yes, it is compatible.

Q: 9. What type of focuser does this unit have? Is it a bird Jones?

A: The scope is outfitted with a 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser.

Q: 10. Can this scope be slewed manually across the sky without losing goto settings?

A: Yes you can! You need to do the aligning setup every time you turn on the computer!!! (which sucks but i think its understandable) Once you start to track an object you can do corrections in every direction which does not effect your settings. Also you can manually slew in every direction without losing your goto setups since they are stored in the computer and if you have aligned correctly.
