This light is an excellent choice as a main, secondary, or background light. Since it accepts the entire line of the PowerLight reflectors, grids, snoots, and diffusers, the StudioMax III is a good investment.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the warranty period?

A: Limited 1-Year Warranty.

Q: 2. Can the power be adjusted remotely? If so, how? Thanks!

A: From the manufacturer. The power can be adjusted with the Photogenic PLDIR-2 Infrared Receiver (919235) a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/175746-REG/Photogenic_919235_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital_Display.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/175746-REG/Photogenic_919235_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital_Display.html/a and the PLIRC-2, and the Photogenic Infrared Hand Held Remote (919438) a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/523174-REG/Photogenic_919438_PLIRC2_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/523174-REG/Photogenic_919438_PLIRC2_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital.html./a

Q: 3. I have a Photogenic Powerlight 600 will the light modifiers like the barn doors fit on this unit/

A: If you own barndoors and/or other light accessories designed for the Photogenic Powerlight system for your Powerlight PL600 monolights, then yes, they would also be compatible for use with the Photogenic StudioMax III Constant Color 320 W/S Monolights in the above kit.

Q: 4. will this flash capture motion at 1/1600 of a second ?

A: This BH #PH2500DRUV shortest flash duration is 1/770th of a second.

Q: 5. Can flash duration be adjusted?

A: Not directly, no. But for most flash units the brightness of the flash over a set amount of time doesn't change. What does change is the length of the light burst. So shooting at full power uses the longest burst, and at half power it will be half as long. I don't have the manuals in front of me (but they are online at the Photogenic website). I'm pretty sure they give the length of flash durations at various settings.... or at least an estimate.

Q: 6. Can i use other big softbox like 35inch for this led light,is it compatible?

A: Yes this will work with other large softboxes as long as they have the Bowens mount.

Q: 7. How long would 2 NP-F970 expected to last when use at full power (without change in output power) ?

A: 2 of the NP-F970 would give you roughly 2.5 hours at full power.

Q: 8. Any specs on the output of this light at 1 or 3 feet? I want to compare it to a few other models.

A: As per the user manual for this light, the brightness is measured in lux. This light is able to produce 11500 lux without the reflector at a distance of 1 meter. When the reflector is attached, it can produce 7300 lux at 1m.

Q: 9. How long does this spotlight before it shuts off due to overheating?

A: Although GVM does not publish a specific time limit on how long the SD200D can stay on, the built-in heat sinks and the built in fan will keep the light cool while operating the light for extended periods.

Q: 10. Will this be powerfull enough to replace a Speedlite 600EX II and allow me to take upper body portraits (not full body) by placing the light 7' from subject with a shutter speed at 200 an f-stop of f5.6 and iso of 200 or the light is not as powerful as a flash?

A: The GVM SD600D Bi-Color LED Spotlight is very bright but LED lights have a shorter fall off than flashes. So, at seven feet away the light will not give you f/5.6, 1/200 at ISO 200.
