The beige B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with Switchcraft 851 Connector for Lectrosonics Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a water-resistant, miniature lavalier microphone for capturing high-quality audio. It can be used in a variety of applications such as a tie-clip lavalier in interviews, a hair-hidden mic for drama, a water-resistant mic for water sports and hurricane reporting, or simply a small mic to hide in a prop flower vase.
The capsule is resistant to moisture, which allows for placement in the hair or on bare skin, and its omnidirectional polar pattern minimizes handling noise, wind noise, and plosives (popping). Furthermore, a variety of skin-matching colors are available. The B3's cable terminates to a Switchcraft 851 connector for direct connection to a Lectrosonics M170 or M175 wireless bodypack transmitter. Additionally, a carrying case, two cable clips, a windscreen, and three protective caps are also included.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B3 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.
The B3 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps, and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.
The B3 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 150 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B3 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.
Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.
Standard, for most uses.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Question about input sources: under Basic menu, are you able to set CH1 to EXT_Power and CH2 to XLR? Everything I change CH1, CH2 changes to the same thing. Same with CH3/4. I can't have CH3 set to Mic and CH4 set to XLR.
A: I don't think that's possible since the non-XLR inputs are balanced stereo jacks. I'd assume channel separation is only possible with recorders featuring separate, unbalanced pairs of TRS inputs.
Q: 2. Does this have USB out to use for audio source interface for a computer?
A: The USB is only for file transfers. This will not work as a real time interface.
Q: 3. This DR-70D has a dual record function, which allows you to record a 2nd track at a quieter volume of the same input channel. Does this work when recording all 4 inputs? Is it able to record all 4 inputs separately and at the same time, record them at a lower level? It would actually be recording 8 separate audio files then.
A: Robin M gave the correct answer.Unit details available here:a href= http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/overview/ target= _blank http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/overview//aThank you for your interest in TASCAM products.
Q: 4. Hello, the audio recorder seems to be separating each track into a different file, is there a way to avoid this while recording or do it in post? Thanks
A: Hi Carlos- If you're only recording mono, i.e. one single mic, just turn off any channels you don't want to record. Likewise for stereo recording; just turn off any channel(s) without input. (Menu/Basic/Record...) Otherwise, these devices by default record individual files for every track- this is the typical workaround for the limitations with recording audio on DSLR cameras. When I edit with multiple files like this (e.g.: a-Sound on one channel-Nat sound on another), I generally do a sub-edit in one sequence, and copy/paste those edited clips into the master edit. You could also sync the video and related audio channels in one sequence, then export the whole thing as a self-contained file with whatever audio config you want (1ch stereo, 2 monos, etc.). When you bring that clip back into your project, it would then have the audio embedded with the video. Hope that helps...
Q: 5. Has anyone actually recorded the looped output to a DSLR like a GH4, Nikon D800 or 5DmkII or III? If so, what settings on the DR-70 camera output and the camera's mic input did you use? The Nikon and Canon have best S/N if their manual inputs are set to 1. Can you adjust the DR-70's output to provide a good level on the camera with the camera input set to 1 ?
A: Yes, I went from the 70D to a Atomos Blade via the stereo mini line I/O. I used my FP24 mixer stereo mini to go to a Canon 70D via tape return so you will do fine.
Q: 6. Are the 4 tracks capable of recording simultaneously?
A: The Tascam DR70D is able to record all 4 XLR mic inputs simultaneously.
Q: 7. How does this unit's preamp compare to a Sound Devices MM-1, Mix Pre-d or 302?
A: Preamps are great. No difference between them and the preamps on my Soundcraft and Mackie boards./
Q: 8. How do I input the stereo mini plug (3.5mm) from a Rode Video mic or similar . I actually only want to use it as a mono source. Do I need a mini to XLR adapter?
A: If you wish to connect to a source with an XLR input than yes you will need an adapter. Otherwise you can plug into the standard 3.5mm jack with the included wire and choose to only use one channel.
Q: 9. Can this be mounted from underneath? Obviously the screw-in tap will attach it to the bottom of a DSLR, but can the 70D be mounted onto the top of something else?
A: You can mount the 70D on the bottom of a DSLR with mounting screw. The unit also has a mounting screw underneath, so you can mount ontop of camera, tripod, etc.
Q: 10. Can you solo tracks while recording and playing back?
A: Each track is independant can be on or off and generate his own file
