Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Rycote Windjammer work with the foam shield on? If not, is it hard to take it off? I remember borrowing one and having the foam be impossible to take off.

A: Yes, the Rycote Windjammer is custom fit to slide over the foam. Once it is over the foam, there is a piece of velcro to fasten it snugly in place. I bought mine to use on an Alaska trip and very pleased with the results.

Q: 2. Would this VideoMic be suitable for recording marching bands from the top of a press box (may be 200 feet away)? Looking for something better than what I get recording with my Panasonic HDC-TM900 video camera.

A: Absolutely. The directional mic is perfect for cutting out most of the surrounding sounds and focusing on what it's pointing at. If you're able to also record with a portable mic closer to the band (zoom h4n and the like) that would be a great to help supplement the audio

Q: 3. is this the new model? the (plus)? because when I search for it this comes up.

A: This is actually the predecessor. The plus model can be found here: https://bhpho.to/2x3cbS2

Q: 4. does this mic work with my sony A7?

A: Yes -this mic will function with a SONY a7.

Q: 5. Will this windbuster/deadcat work on the VMP+? In the description it says it is for the VMP Rycotte.

A: No it will not, the new VMP Pro+ has an integrated windjam, and therefore is not compatible with the deadcat designed for the VMP Pro

Q: 6. How do you attach the mic to the boom pole? Boom pole is a screw thread and mic uses a hot shoe.

A: Just turn the mic upside down so you are looking at the bottom of the shoe. You will see a hole in under side of the shoe. The threaded stud at the end of the boom pole will screw right into the shoe. They are all 3/8 threads.

Q: 7. if i buy rode video mico pro plus kit with boompole, windbuster and cable, this already came with Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery and Battery Lasts Over 100 Hours, right?

A: Yes the rating for the rechargeable Li-Ion battery is 100 hours.

Q: 8. Does the Rode VideoMic Pro have a headphone out plug? I'm looking for a way to monitor sound and the camera does not have a headphone jack.

A: This mic is amazing.Great tone and volume. The best! 5 stars!!

Q: 9. Would this work for recording dialogue between two people in a quiet room from about 10 ft away? And is this compatible with Nikon3200?

A: The Rode VideoMic Pro is compatible with the D3200 and similar cameras that feature an 1/8 mic input jack. Average range for pickup would be 2-5 feet. For capturing audio at a distance of 10 feet clearly would require a significantly longer microphone and not an optimal recording scenario. It would be recommended to use a mic off camera or lavalier mics.

Q: 10. Does the high pass filter work effectively to reduce the impact of DSLR lens motor noise? I tried several micro phones which do not have high pass filter, but those microphones pick up the mechanical noise of DSLR lens motor. I'm looking for the microphone which can reduce the impact of the noise.

A: The high pass filter may help with this issue. it may attenuate it, but may or may not totally eliminate it. The best solution is to use the mic off camera with a bracket.
