A: The top is quite strong and the Tascam body is strong too. I think it can manage a Canon 1DC with a normal lens. Me I carry the Tascam alongside my sound mixer in the mixer bag.

A: Its not bad! I wouldn't use it as a primary mic, but its good for nat sound and stuff like that. Its a little better than the h4n built in mic. I havent used the h6

A: If you wish to connect to a source with an XLR input than yes you will need an adapter. Otherwise you can plug into the standard 3.5mm jack with the included wire and choose to only use one channel.
