A: We're not quite sure which part you're referring to as the "top head", but the SBH-100's quick release plate uses a standard 1/4"-20 screw for attaching your camera/device, and the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AB's mounting platform uses a 3/8-16" for attaching a ball head. If you mean the double-ended screw used to secure the ballhead, the internal threads of the center column assembly use a 3/8"-16 screw and a single 1/4"-20 might not do well enough to secure a ball head using a bushing adapter.
