Q: 5. I'm asking this since there is not tripod mount for this lens. Just wondering if anybody is using this with the a7 (not a7ii) and a tripod. Does the a7 feel solid enough to support this lens?

A: Yes I use it with the A7R on a tripod and I do not have a problem with the weight. Nevertheless it is not a sharp lens, it is actually very bad for its price. Images shot with a longer focal length than 120mm are soft. At 240mm is extremely soft. And since there is no way to make a microadjustment on the camera (it should not need it because it is a mirrorless), I have not found a way to fix this. I will try to sell it and buy something else. I am very disappointed at the poor quality of this lens. If you want to see a comparison between a 70-200mm Canon lens and this 24-240mm lens let me know.
