The gray Tram TR50 is a miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone designed to deliver clear speech and dialog with a natural sound that mixes well with boom microphones, making it popular among professional sound recordists working in TV, film, broadcast, videography, and more.

The mic's omnidirectional polar pattern provides a generous 360° pickup response that helps to keep levels consistent, even if the talent turns and isn't speaking directly in the direction of the capsule. The flat, upward facing design allows the mic to be easily concealed while also helping it to resist clothing and rustling noises.

The TR50 features a 40 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response with a gentle 3 to 4 dB boost in the high frequencies for added clarity with minimum sound coloration, especially helpful if the mic is hidden behind clothing or fabric. Well suited to wireless applications, the mic features a 4.5' cable available in a variety of connectors for direct integration with bodypack transmitters. This model features a 4-pin LEMO connector wired for use with select Telex transmitters.

This version of the TR50 is wired with a negative bias which means that, in addition to being powered by your wireless transmitter, it can also be battery powered for wired XLR applications by plugging into a TR79 power supply (available separately). A tie bar, tie tac, clip-on holder, and tape-down holder are provided to help you mic up your subject. A windscreen, cable holder, and carrying case are also included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you format the micro SD card inside the device? Can't find an option on the app

A: This needs to be connected to your computer and the F2 Editor program needs to be used. It can not format usng the App.

Q: 2. Can I transfer the audio I recorded to my iPhone? if posible... How can I do it?

A: If you would like to transfer audio from the F2-BT to your iPhone, the best way to accomplish this would be to first transfer the audio from the F2-BT's memory card to your computer, and then from there to your iPhone. It is not possible to have a direct data connection from the F2-BBT to an iPhone, or vice-versa.

Q: 3. Can I use a second lavalier? I mean a use for an interview where we need two mics.

A: The Zoom F2 BT can only accept one lavalier microphone.

Q: 4. Can it be used to record from a wedding band's console?

A: The F2-BT was not intender for that type of application, but you can make it work. The input on the F2-BT is mic level while the output from the console is line level and also uses a locking 3.5mm TRS connector, so you will need to use a line-to-mic level attenuating cable to pad the console's output signal to match the recorder's input level as well as an adapter with a locking connector to attach to the recorder's input. We have a selection of attenuating cables with different types of connectors that will work. If the console has a "tape out" with dual RCA connectors, you can use the Sescom SES-43DB-# 43 dB Pad DSLR Attenuating Line to Mic Level Cable - 18" (B&H #SES43DBMZ2P). Then to connect to the input of the recorder, add a female-to-female coupler such as the Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H #HOASMFSMF) along with a cable such as the Sennheiser CL1 cable (B&H #SECL1) which has standard and locking 3.5mm connectors on the ends. The locking end will connect to the F2-BT's input. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat if you would like further assistance.

Q: 5. I have Red Komodo that I need timecode sync for zoomf2 BT version. The UltraSync Blue does not plug into Komodo so how do I sync it? Will zoom f2 BT work with tentacle sync gen for red komodo? If not what timesync generator can I get for Red Komodo and wc B box 5 pin lemon timecode out?

A: This unit uses time code through Bluetooth and will connect wirelessly to Ultrasync Blue devices.

Q: 6. Will this take Micro SD-HC like Tascam DR-10L?

A: Yes, the F2-BT can be used with microSD, microSDHC,and microSDXC cards up to 512 GB (Class 4 or higher).

Q: 7. I have the Zoom F6, which generates its own timecode, and has bluetooth. Can I sync the F2 with F6 directly, or are they really making me buy some 3rd party device for that?

A: It is not possible to sync the F2 and F6 directly. You will need to use an UltraSync BLUE device by Timecode Systems (available separately) to sync the F2 and F6 to receive and write timecode to recorded files.

Q: 8. Does the F2 record stereo, mono or both?

A: This is a mono recorder

Q: 9. What is the file size per minute of recording?

A: Information on file size per minute of recording has not been provided by the manufacturer. However, the F2 and F2-BT can be used with microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards up to 512 GB (Class 4 or higher).

Q: 10. Can you use this with a wireless mic system?

A: Yes, you can use a wireless mic system instead of the lavalier mic. Just be sure to use a cable that has a locking 3.5mm TRS connector for the input on the F2-BT. if your wireless receiver output cable has a standard non-locking 3.5mm TRS, you can use a female to female coupler adapter like the Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H # HOASMFSMF) to connect your receiver's output cable with a second cable such as the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Output Cable (B&H # SECL1) which has a standard non-locking 3.5mm TRS male connector on one side and locking 3.5mm TRS male end on the other side to go to the F2-BT's locking input.
