The Tiffen 40.5mm UV Protector Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How well does this lens work in low light?

A: This isn't an exceptionally wide aperture, so if low-light performance is your top priority, I'd recommend looking at the 70-200 f2.8, or changing your body to an A7s. However, I've been shooting with this as my everyday lens on my A7ii for over a year and I'm very satisfied with the performance in all conditions. I recently tested it against a G-master lens and was surprised that the difference in the image quality was extremely marginal.

Q: 2. With the lens being so heavy, do you need to handle it from the tripod collar or will the E-Mount handle the weight?

A: like most 70-200/2.8 lenses on any system, I wouldn't recommend using it just on the camera mount. I have found that the e-mount on the a7rii is strong enough to hold it but there is a fair amount of torque and anything in the wrong direction or too quick could put it past it's tolerance. That expensive of gear should be treated with respect I think. I'm just not one to risk it when the collar isn't unwieldy in the first place

Q: 3. If this lens produces a result a little too close (zoomed in), what would be the next Lumix lens that would have a slightly wider field of view?

A: There is a Panasonic 30mm lens, click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/3c5oJxI

Q: 4. hey guys, I'm thinking to get a zoom lens to work on my a7iii and I don't know if it's better to go for the 100/400 G or this 70/200 G and the 2x extender. what do you suggest? I'm gonna use it for wild photography

A: 70-200mm is a better choice

Q: 5. is this lens made in Japan?

A: Yes.

Q: 6. Add a teleconverter

A: By all means, yes.

Q: 7. If I buy a step up ring for this lens (37mm to 46mm), will I still be able to use the lens hood? Or would a step up ring block the thread from being able to mount on the hood?

A: Once you put on the 37 to 46mm step up ring, the included lens hood will not fit over it. If you put the hood on first, you might be able to get the step up ring on after it, but it would be very fiddly and inconvenient.

Q: 8. hi im planning fitting this to my a6500 can you please give zoom values with & without the converter?.thanks, Terry

A: It says 1.4x....multiply 70 by 1.4. Now multiply 200 by 1.4. These two number make the larger range. Keep in mind with the teleconverer you get a worse f stop. It becomes a F4 stop

Q: 9. What is the difference in image quality between the Z f2.8 and Z f4 24-70? A few reviews say the 2.8 is better, but what are the differences? Thanks

A: f2.8 has better lower light performance and better depth of field

Q: 10. Is there any updated info on when this is available..... it has been coming for a long long time?

A: Unfortunately, we still do not have an estimated delivery date from Sony for their 70-200mm f/2.8.
